Whats up NE guys and gals!
Been out of the loop for the past few weeks due to work obligations and the subsequent RnR needed after.
Took the misses out to Arizona and Utah with the idea of traveling the backcountry roads in Capitol Reef National Park in Utah. Saw lots of different landscapes and drove many miles on paved and dirt roads all over the AZ/UT area. We rented a Jeep Grand Cherokee in Phoenix and set out on our journey. Heres a few pics for those that don't do the FB.
Rental! In the Bentonite Hills in Cap Reef
Soon after turning onto the Caineville Wash road we came across these cowboys herding some cattle.
We crossed the Fremont River which was kind of scary, hoping I didn;t hit a hole and sink our rental that I denied insurance on!
A few miles from the pavement we came across this old truck preserved in the desert sun for quite some time now
At 30 miles out from the pavement you come to Cathedral Valley, aptly named as you can see:
50 miles through the Cathedral Valley loop we finally came to the Temple of the Sun and Moon. Really cool sandstone rock pinnacles.
The second day we drove out to Cottonwood Wash in the Waterpocket District along the 36 mile backcountry roack Notom/Burr Trail. Really sick rock out here and we made time for a hike into a slot canyon
Waterpocket Fold farms
In Cottonwood Wash Narrows
The route we planned crossed the Glen Canyon Dam

We stopped to do a rafting trip down the Colorado River to Lee's Ferry.
Checked out Bryce Canyon for a day
Most of the drive took us along State Route 12 in Utah through some pretty aspen stands
and different sandstone scenes
And interesting sights to see
Hickmans Bridge
Petrified Wood
Still snow up there!
In Sedona you see these Pink Jeeps all over carrying tourists to the dirt trails, we did not take a tour. Did not want to be seen in a PINK jeep!
Ended with a hike down a Lava Tube Cave in Flagstaff Arizona.
I wish I had my KJ with me as it took a while to see what an unlifted GC was capable of with on the fly 4x4. So many dirt roads, OHV areas to explore. I might have to do a western roadtrip someday to explore some more!
Hope you enjoy and to catch up with the crew soon!
