Thats right, it's that time of year to get our Jeeps down to Robert Moses and pick up the new fishing 4x4 access permits on January 7th.
For those that have not been before- In order to buy the permits you need a current NYS Registration and License. Remember, when you are on the beach you do need to have with you a portable toilet (5-gallon bucket), fishing pole, tackle, shovel, tow rope or chain, jack & jack board, spare tire, tire gauge to a minimum of 5 PSI and tires must not exceed 33 inches in diameter or 12.5 inches in width (not a problem for us KJ and KKs). For the state fishing permits you may apply and receive your permit without these in your possession, but once you hit the beach they must be with you. If you are caught on the beach without them your permit may be rescinded.
This run is not an offroad run, the beaches are closed till April usually. We meet up at the office, buy the permits, BS somewhere, maybe grab some brunch/lunch, and from there.......

Actually I think its before April 30th and after Labor Day.

They do have a cut off, if enough passes are sold they do not reopen, if not enough passes are sold or they don't reach there limit they open it back up

Sorry guys, but count me out. My nan just passed away this morning. Kinda not in the mood to do anything right now, and funeral is Sunday, burial Monday. It's still possible that I'll go, but idk especially with how my family and I are right now. It'll probably help get my mind of things....like this is now. Either way I'll play it by year and get in touch with whoever or keep updated on this when the time comes.

So we are meeting at 12PM but where? I was thinking that we should meet at field 5 and when everyone is there head out to the office. I know we always meet up at the pencil but since its a lot of jeeps the fuzz will probably tell us that we can't be there.

Thoughts?

field 5 works... I am just trying to get them there the easiest way without issues. I guess wantaugh pkway works but the field signs get a bit confusing

once you guys cross over the last bridge (the one you see on the map) you'll see the robert moses pencil. Image You'll have to go half way around the circle and take the second right. Keep going straight till you see field 5.

The map above is a VERY rough sketch of how to get to field 5. Google maps shows it the opposite way
