So with my new position in my job I'm driving a hellofalot more than before and the gas mileage these tires and extra weight (skids and sliders) are killing my wallet. I've actually considered trading in the jeep for a more fuel efficient car  For now i think I'm going to take off the skids and sliders and see if i gain anymore mpgs from that. also so many noises coming from turning. I'm sick of it

Well that sucks Brian.
Things to consider before letting go of the KK
Taking of the skids and skanks.
Maybe 215/85/16s load range C, a skinner tire has less rolling resistance and a C tire has less plys which means less weight.
Regearing to 4.10s or more.
Taking it easier on the skinny pedal.
Losing weight.
All the things I said will come out a lot cheaper then buying another car even if you get one used.

You can still stay in the jeep family, just get yourself a jeep compass 2x4 which gets 23 city/29 hwy.

Good luck fitting in one though..

I just watched A Good Old Fashioned Orgy, so this title threw me off, lol.

You'll notice the biggest thing hitting your mileage is your tires.

You're better off buying a used car for cheap that gets good mileage.

I know you have a lot of time on your hands, so here you go, have a nice read.

nice read lol. what really grinds my gears is the noise coming from when i turn, i have NO IDEA what it is and i still have that banging from the rear too, it's gotten louder. think that could be from my awesome rear alignment?

What kind of new position makes you drive more but doesn't pay for fuel? Oh wait, I know what position.

Brian also consider we know where you live!
You think Pete taking a CB antenna is bad, just wait till the Prius has no tires in the driveway!
I know what you mean about the gas killing the wallet. It's the one reason I wish I bought a CRD. Good luck with the new decision and you could always hitch a ride with one of us to the beach! :-)r

Jeff, that Prius is a good idea.
Better yet, why don't you just drop a Prius motor in the KK, I'm sure that will work.
Or since you get better mileage with diesel, just fill your tank up with that. It's only a couple cents more.
Or why don't you steal that Saturn in your driveway. I'm sure that gets good mileage.
Oh, how about one of those bicycles?
Even this, bring all those empty beer bottles back to the supermarket.
Wait! Instead of delivering a full case, take one can out and sell it for 100% profit.

I can go all day!

Hey, Lindy is a good neighborhood.....Brian just happens to be a little too close to North Lindy lol. Besides, who would steal Prius tires? Who would want anything to do with a Prius? lol

Anyways, try Dean's ideas :p Shed the weight, maybe trade in the oversized tires for donuts. You already have 1 donut, just need 3 more.

brian try pushing the ESP button before you start driving in your truck and see if thatg solves the noise... f not you have a rubbing problem.... if you want I can help you find it and solve it... also you should fix that track bar in the rear... that may be your issue as well

I'm the MPG master... had my truck up to 23 highway before all the new mods... hope to get it back up to 21 after gears... the key is weight reduction... it means loosing the spare ( which is a donut anyway)... taking everything else out of the truck thats not needed. it also means taking it easier on the skinny pedal and using cruise control. Skinnier tires also= more MPGs a 235/85 would be pretty good. and regearing will also help but thats $$$... if you got your old rims and tires I'm run those for a while you will see the MPGs just from that switch ( lighter wheels). if you decide to get new wheels and tires less weight is the most important

i tried fixing the track bar yesterday, i failed, i don't know what to do, what is the number for the esp fuse again? I'm in and out of my jeep all day, it would just be easier to take it out when the roads are dry rather than hitting th button 40+ times a day

The fuse for the kk abs system is J6. John rigged his to have a on off switch in the cab. A lot better then taking it off and putting it back on.

I pulled the fuse on mine and while I was driving down 110 my speedometer stopped working. I stopped, poped the fuse back in and it started working again. Seems like on the kj the speedo stOps working when u pull the abs fuse off.
