Everyone make it thru Hurricane Sandy?

Wind was real bad here, but lights only flickered a few time. What rain that came seem to have been blow dry away by the wind.

We got lucky. No power loss though a huge tree half came down in the spot I usually park in! Missed me by that much!

Waiting for a friend to help her drive down to her house in the rockaways. Gotta see what we can salvage. Evidently a neighbor says a boat landed on her front yard on her fence and the water line is halfway up her front door on the main floor. We're sure that means the basement is entirely flooded and probably her first floor as well. Her, her kid and dog were able to stay at another friends but now she has to go into salvage mode.
I was lucky, had put in for a couple days off so I rode it out at home for the last four days. Luckily, as the airport is now in operation, I didn't have to aid in the rebuild there so can help my friend.

Flood update -
Just got back. Wasn't kidding about the boat! If the neighbor hadn't waded out and fended it off it would have gone through the front of her house! As it was it crushed the front step railings, ripped off the house light outside and poked through an outer storm window, but didn't go through the inner window. There was so much devastation that they were clearing the piles of debris with front loaders. We saw boats literally across main streets and an entire freight container, the big ones that make up the back of tractor trailers, literally sitting across a side street. Also, sadly, there was a burnt out fire truck. A large one. I don't know how that happened.
Her basement still has over 5' of water in it and her entire 1st floor was devastated. We had to throw out everything down to the bare floor. Refrigerator was on its back, filled with water on top of all the spoiled food. Dishwasher was entirely filled. Water level was about 3.5 feet based on the waterline on the door and walls. And her 1st floor is about 7-8 feet above the street level!

You would figure a First Floor 8' above Ground Level would be safe, but the storm surge went from 11' to almost 14' depending on where you lived.

I was hoping to make the run this year but with the storm and all the damage I'm headed out to the east end to help out my brother and parents. Sorry and enjoy!

Unfortunately, looks like we have to do the same....
Have to bail out a basement and help move a distressed female.
If we do this at all it'll have to be next weekend.
Sorry Dru! :banghead:

Probably a good idea to start an entirely new thread. Maybe catch some others attention with a new topic heading and we can start a clean count.

Looks like it just three vehicles for this predicted beautiful weather-wise Sunday.

For those with trouble getting gasoline, there are no lines around here.
