Taking off of work to get more ink done this Friday and get beach permit for Robert Moses park but since hurricane sandy took out headquarters, where can I go to get it? Last year I had my ram for the beach and now I have my lifted jeep. Any help?

Belmont state park head quarters. Exit 37n on the southern state parkway going east. Its the first right when you get on Belmont AV. The permit office closes at 4:45pm open Mondays thru Fridays.

im looking to get a beach pass. What does it entail, can i just drive around on the beach or is it just for driving over to the shore line and fish?

Smith's Point is recreational, meaning you can basically do whatever, and the state pass is for "fishing". The state checks to make sure you have fishing poles for everyone in the truck, etc. Will they say something if you aren't fishing? I doubt it unless you're doing something stupid.

You can no longer purchase the state 4x4 fishing permit. March 31st was the last day.
You can purchase it again after labor day, and will only be valid until December 31st of this year.

I'm not sure how Smith's Point works.

Apparently, I am wrong, you can purchase them until the end of April, if this information is incorrect, you can blame, Pete, haha.

As far as I know Smith point can be purchased anytime and is cheaper after Labor Day. It is still unclear if the outer beach will be opening at all or partially due to Sandy. The permit for Suffolk County is 90 dollars and you must have a green key card. Non resident permits are more but not sure of pricing.

Beach permit can be purchased till April 31st. Smiths point tells me that doubt they will be open this year. To too it off, if you are not a Suffolk county resident it will cost you $225. Yea......
