Get the Liberty ready for Reno on July 23rd for a run to Crystal Peak.
The Crystal Peak run is a fantastic ride through the Sierra's. We will begin our climb in Verdi Nevada only ten miles from Reno and make our climb over Dog Valley road into a lush meadow with a creek that runs through it. From the meadow Crystal Peak is a short drive on some old logging roads. As you get closer to the peak you'll notice more and more quartz laying around until finally you hit the quartz mother lode known as Crystal Peak. The National Forest Service allows for two buckets of crystals to be removed from the site, so if you want to spruce up your yard with some quartz you can. If the mood strikes us we can also make our way to one of three alpine lakes located just a few short miles from the peak.

What do you need to bring?
Just your Liberty and yourself.

Difficulty Rating

Easy as hell! Most of the roads towards Crystal Peak are graded which make life easier if your Liberty isn't lifted yet. For those of you that want more of a challenge you can find it there! It is the Sierra Nevadas!

Meeting Place-
July 23rd at 9AM in the Summit Racing parking lot.

Directions-
Take I-80 to the Sparks-McCarran Exit. Go South on McCarran until you hit Glendale. Turn left onto Glendale and head East about 1/4 mile until you get to 960 East Glendale Avenue in Sparks.

Encourage all of your friends to go! Harass other random Liberty owners to go as well!

Questions-
Feel free to call me if you have any questions/issues whatever.
Larry 775-762-2175

Post if you're coming! Let's make this run a good one!

It looks like CalTrans is going to be doing a major road revamp for 19 miles after Colfax (read in sacbee.com today)
Here is up to the date road info: I-80 Road Info

Hey All,

I am getting things ready for the Crystal Peak Run. I am looking forward to it. Ya think the rest will find the new location on this board in time?
I hope so!

I will have all on the safety checklist ready to go.

Boomer :D

Hi Boomer. Are you new or just changed monikers? If new, start a thread here and introduce yourself.

This thread was on the old site for a couple of months so I don't think we've LOST anyone. :?

It looks like we might have a great turn out. I'm bringing decals to sell, extra hold harmless forms. and my new NorCal tshirt from CafePress.

Hi Larry. I think we need to modify your instructions somewhat.

1. Bring lunch and water/non alcoholic drinks.
2. Comment: Need directions from N. Tahoe including exit numbers.
3. Have breakfast out of the way before we meet
4. We meet at 9am but when do we leave the parking lot?
5. Comment: One of those lakes sounds like a great lunch spot.
6. Comment: Can you construct a route that's both 'easy as hell' and not? Difficult portions with easy bypasses? Just wondering.

If you are coming from North Tahoe you will take Mount Rose Hwy to 395 North, turn on I-80 East and follow the posted directions. Let's plan on leaving the Summit parking lot @ 9:45 if there are straglers they can reach me at 775-762-2175 and catch up. As far as difficult routes there are some roads that may work out I'll scope it out and I'll be ready for the run. We will have some choices of various lunch spots. Let's play it by ear.

I look forward to seeing everyone, we are going to have a great time!

Had 8 rigs on this run. Pics later. Tame trails, beautiful country.

More later.
