Well it didn't work out, and I headed out Panoche Rd and dirt Panoche to I-5 for the southbound to SoCal. To me, the NorCal vs SoCal irony is if you're in a wheeling area in SoCal and you need an alternative, there's probably something else as a back up within 30 to 60 minutes.
Saturday, I wheeled the easy 75 mile Bradshaw Trail from below sea level at the Salton Sea, east towards Blythe. It was 1941 Patton tank training country, and currently a Navy bombing range perimeter. We were buzzed by Harriers. Sunday, wheeled and group geocached canyons out of Indio: Painted, Box, Pinkham, Fargo, Rockhouse. Monday, hike to 8000 feet in the San Gabriels to a USAF plane wreck.
