I have gotten some interest in maybe doing this trail as a NorCal run so here goes... There are literally dozens of great trails east of the Fresno area in the Sierra Natl Forest, but this is one standout that I particularly enjoy cause it can easily be done in a few hours if rushing or could be turned into a day run taking out time and shootin pics and messin round on the rocks and such. I dont know if any of yall have done this trail before but I can literally run it in my sleep so I will volunteer to TB this one if nobody else wants to...I dont have a KJ but Ill take that fact that yall do into consideration Location: Located east of Fresno off Highway 168 near Shaver Lake, CA. Approx. time from Fresno is 1 hr 30 min. or less depending... Recommended Equipment: Recovery points front AND rear Full skids and sliders (HIGHLY recommended) Lift (recommended) Offroad tires (recommended) Strap Hi-Lift (recommended in case but not necessary) Rear locker (recommended but not necessary) CB (recommended) Camera This aint the most difficult trail in the area, that honor goes to Dusy Ershim, one that yall prolly cant do in a KJ unless body damage aint an issue Like I said I am willing to be the TB for this run and I am also willing to allow stock KJs on this run on one condition...you take full responsibility for the likelihood of damage to your jeep. I am confident in my spottin ability to get a stocker up this trail cause there are only a few parts that would give it some problems that I can think of, but I AM NOT responsible for the damage caused by the numerous rocks and obstacles on this trail that will likely jump at a stocker KJ Again, this will be a fun oriented run and many of yall might have other friends interested in comin or buyin a jeep, this'll be the trail that'll hook em!!! Guaranteed!!! So lemme know what yall think and Id like to do this ASAP before the snow gets to be a problem as my winch is on the fritz!! |

Very interested but I don't have an open weekend through the end of the year. bad timing. Mapquest has it at about 4 hours from me to the town of Shaver. Looks like a cool area based on info I have found. http://rides.webshots.com/album/559804702RtZkWj?start=0 Pics remind me of the Con. |

http://rides.webshots.com/album/559804702RtZkWj?start=0 Pics remind me of the Con. Yeah it's not a bad drive at all. I do it all the time from LA to Fresno and back. If you have time to do the run either now or in the future I'll try to help folks from down south or wherever coordinate a place to stay if needed. Also there is a pretty sweet BBQ place in Fresno (I saw another of the same place somewhere else but can't remember) |

Just a "hey there." I drive from San Francisco to SoCal a lot to wheel, so Shaver Lake is no problemo. I was at Shaver and on Kaiser Pass Road just a month ago. Sorry I can't swing this 3-day weekend. Ben |

I know a good amount of people from NorCal come down here to wheel with us so I plan to go up there more to wheel with you guys |

We spent most of our time driving back and forth from the Springs to Tahoe. Never wheeled anywhere else up there though. Looking forward to it but it will have to be some time next year for me. Weather wise, how is it in Spring, say Late April or during May? Does it get much snow? What elevation is it? |

Sunday would work for me as long as we started around 8-9am. That would give me time to replace my rear diff fluid on sat. Better than messing with it in the dark on Friday night, not to mention my RTV is black. JJ, I think the weather up there would be fine during that time. Not sure about it's elevation but I don't think there would be any snow up there during those months. Would make a good trip, especially if we can post it far enough in advance that people from farther areas can plan for it. |

I was actually referrin to if youd been to the Shaver area before Late April to early May most of the snow has melted off, some years with heavy snow it'll still be there...I did Bald a bunch last winter in the snow and the latest we ran it was the last week in March...it looked like this...
Dont remember exactly what my GPS said for elevation last time I was at the top but it is darn near 7500-8000 IIRC |

She would run out into the snow and practically bury herself. She was a nut when it snowed. Cool dogs. |
