Post subject:  CB install help!!!!!

I just purchased my FIRST cb radio and antenna kit. I have everything installed nice but I am getting a very high swr reading. I searched all over the Internet to find out how to fix this and I came up with my solution. I need to tune my antenna to my vehicle; I don't know what that means. I don't have a tunable antenna and I don't know what wires i need to cut. What I need from you guys is the name of a shop in Sacramento that installs CB radios. The yellow pages are useless and I have a mental block on what type of shop would do such a thing. I've called every 4x4 shop in the area and they barely even sell the radios let alone install them. Please help if you know of a place that does it or have a way to describe to me how to tune my antenna in newbie terms.

First read up on the process. Most ants are tunable. Take a look at
http://www.firestik.com/Tech_Docs.htm

For tuners you might look at truck stops. I've seen CB outfit around them.

I believe this is where I went to buy mine and have it installed. I don't remember exactly, but this name and location look familiar. They were nice guys and willing to help me mount and tune the antenna.

Thanks alot guys, your info really helped, i got my cb up and running. i actually ended up getting a bottome loaded tunable ant and it works perfect. i wasted a nice fiberglas one tho cutting the coil wire off the top little bits at a time didn't really change anything. Firestik must have a secret about how to do that... anyway....... Thanks again for all the help
