Just thought I would stop in and say hey! I enlisted in the Army and I will be stationed at Fort Sam Houston in San Antonio starting on November 20th, 2006. I leave for basic training soon which is in MO. I am a member of AZ LOST and would like to meet some of you when I come out there. The KJ will not be with me but I am bringing my 1980 CJ7...so I will still be able to wheel :D .
I have lived in AZ 99% of my life so how is it in San Antonio? Do the cars rust pretty quick out there? Fun stuff to do?
Sorry for the stupid questions  , I just want to know what I am getting into :P .

Well . . . I've yet to actually visit San Antonio . . . but I hear it's a great place to Visit!!! Not sure about living there though, hehe.

Welcome to Texas . . . there's lots of friendly folk around here!

San Antonio is pretty nice. You should be used to hot weather being from AZ so it shouldn't be too big of a difference, just some added humidity. There's a lot more trees too! Jeremy (FreedomKJ) would be the one to answer your questions since he lives there :) I'll be there in September to go to Seaworld!

I've been to San Antonio a few times. It's a pretty nice place.

My thought is that SA cars would not rust as fast as they do here in Corpus. I've visited SA a few times and its nice. Austin is close too. SA has tons to do, way more than Corpus!!! heheheh And I bet there are some great places to wheel in the hill country.

Glad to hear you'll be coming to SA!

I've lived here off and on since 95 and I've yet to have any rust issues with any of my vehicles.

Unfortunately there are very few places to wheel in Texas, and especially around SA, due to the fact that almost all the land is privately held. There are a few pay-to-play parks though.

I went to school in San Antonio (UTSA) and I loved it. Great location close to lots of cold rivers and great live music scene. Moving to San Antonio is really like moving to four different cities: San Antonio, Austin, New Braunfels, and San Marcos. Hope you enjoy it.

Thanks for the replies! I will have 3 day weekends so I will have time to travel around a little bit. I would love to spend some of those days wheeling :D . Glad to hear that rust isn't really an issue too! I will be there on about Nov. 16th so I will be checking this forum quite a bit. Hopefully I will get to meet some of you while I'm there.
