Just thought I'd let everyone know that TPWD now requires all off highway vehicles that want to run on public lands to display a permit. It's only $8 and goes towards making more off road recreation sites and the maintenance of those we already have. Here's the link:

http://www.tpwd.state.tx.us/spdest/ohv/

If nothing else, it's $8 to put towards land stewardship and insurance to keep you from getting a fine.

Cheers,
Phil

looks like full size vehicles do not need one.. ??

What types of vehicles do not need the decal?
Street legal motorcycles, full sized vehicles, full sized 2 wheel drive vehicles, and 2 wheel drive vehicles which use a bench seat or other up-right, backed seats, instead of a saddle, do not need an OHV decal when riding on public land. Use of OHV's on private land does not require the Texas OHV decal.

Sorry about the confusion from my initial post guys. The wording and explanation to me was a bit confusing. After looking into it here's my understanding: As long as your vehicle is street legal and full size it does not need an OHV permit. That being said, since there are not a lot of trails for full size rides like ours maybe if TPWD sees that a bunch of us have put down the $8 they'll put that money into making more trails for us. I know it's a pipe dream, but here goes

Here's a link to a list of places to ride:
http://www.tpwd.state.tx.us/spdest/ohv/ride.phtml

Not all of them allow full sized OHVs, but some do. Anyways, sorry about the confusion.
