in my opinion I'd go with the pioneer,I'm not a radio expert but I have a pioneer now simiular & it's awesome,I've also owned Alpine no problems at all,but pioneer has come a long way & should be cheaper,& quality will probably be the same for both,I'd get the pioneer

Jody,

Yeah, I vote for the Pioneer too.

I see they both play MP3's (best feature on ANY new deck) and if they both have all the outputs you need then . . . Alpine makes some nice stuff... and sometimes have really neat features like browsing through MP3's by title/file name, but Pioneers are known to push a little more power and higher voltage outputs for amps which is nicer if you plan on running your speakers off your deck or an amp.

Also, the Pioneer Premier brands have an extra year on the warranty . . .

Check out these web sites if you haven't bought it yet... could save you some money. If you plan on getting an amp or speakers then DEFINITELY check out these sites:

http://www.millionbuy.com
http://www.hookedontronics.com

Let me know when you plan on slapping that bad boy in your Jeep... be glad to help out!

Brandon

Almost did the impulse buy, but resisted since I wanted to make sure I was getting the right combo. Those sales guys make everything seem rosey and almost had me drop a wad on the whole shabang. I need replace the factory speakers since I blew passeger door unit. Since I am going to do that, I figured I'd go ahead and add a small amp and a sub too.

Man, I blew out my passenger side speaker in November also . . . prompted my upgrade to Infinity Kappas all around, hehe. I was just looking for the excuse, :D

NO WAY Man!!! Don't buy it all local.... you'll save a couple hundred on that much stuff easily!

Doing all that . . . I'd recommend checking out Crutchfield.com also . . . for the Head Unit mainly... but sometimes they run a good deal on speakers too. Not long ago they had a great deal going for the Polk db series . . . great speakers for the price. Was like buy 1 set get 1 free. But, with the head unit they'll include the installation kit, wiring harness, and antenna adapter (Yeah, you'll need all 3) for free.... worth $40+ and with Crutchfield you get guaranteed warranty coverage... and support. So unless you can really save a ton they are definitely worth a look for the head unit and/or speakers.

Now, for the Sub . . . I'd briefly check out Crutchfield because I found a KILLER deal on my Infinity Perfect 12" Sub in their scratch and dent area ... nearly 70% off normal retail... couldn't pass it up. But otherwise you can find great deals at the sites I listed above.

And, for the Amp... you will find those 2 sites listed above WELL worth a visit... depending on what you want... but their amp installation kits are really cheap too, and are of great quality... i've ordered a lot of stuff from those sites over the years... hooking up my Jeep and my Boat!

Let me know if you got anymore questions.... it's great to know that my many high school years spent on car audio was all worthwhile, hehe :-)
