"unless you drive backwards all the time "

Funny you say that man, Since I have a 4x2, you would be suprised what backward has gotten me through.

It don't have to really worry because the steel flange makes it where it won't peel away. I hope it does have that lip though.

I might just get an extra cover, cheaper

as per rieder racing's 2005 catolog you have a Chrystler 8 3/8" or 8 1/4" (they are the same)
they do not list a Dana 35 as being in a KJ but they have been wrong befor

if you post up the numbers on the diff tag including spaces i can read it for you
i am refering to the tag that was held on by 1 or 2 diff cover bolts

Jason, They ain't wrong, but they ain't right either. Mine is a Dana 35, 27 spline, non c clip, bolt in, that I know like the back of my hand. It was what the liberty was supposed to have before they switched to 8.25 corp

i was wrong just looked a the KJ and the only tag is a ratio tag it has only three number ie 3 73 or 3 55 obvious ratios
the chrystler axels dont have a diff tag like the dana axles but i could tell from a good pic that much i know for sure

The DANA Tag # is

52111774AF

3 73 6770

Looks almost like a 8.25 cover with the Dana diamond stamped in...I'm looking into this theory. No, its a dana 35 with a diff bolt pattern. #$$%&&%

I had a smiley

Here you go Jason, Interesting reading.

http://dana.mediaroom.com/index.php/press_releases/1736

"Dana will supply a
portion of the rear axles for the Jeep Liberty, with the remainder to be
manufactured by DaimlerChrysler."
