100F is a cool day......

and El Paso is a long way away from anywhere..... (Phoenix is closer than Austin)

There's Border patrol between Texas and New Mexico.... (tried to tell them we're in the same country......no sense of humor)

Welcome to Texas

I think the tickets on the F1 are going to be seriously expensive - cheaper than a trip to Europe - but that's about it.
Although they are pushing to have everything done -Track is looking good - but not sure they have the driving to/from figured out yet.
Current plan includes lots of buses from all parts of Austin

So I have been told my auto insurance will go through the roof as well. Need to find out how the vehicles are being stolen.

They mainly target fullsize trucks
a) they blend in - Texas has more than the rest of the US
b) they carry lots of cargo - people or drugs

Yes but how they are being stolen is the key to theft prevention.

considering the number of small towns in West Texas -
they probably walk up and hop in the truck left idling outside the convenience store.....

Texas insurance sites
Quote:
Almost half of all vehicles stolen were left unlocked and one out of every five vehicles stolen had the keys in it. .

Quote:
How you can take action
The NICB recommends common sense.
Many car thefts occur because the owner makes it easy for thieves.
Get a car alarm.
Install a kill switch to stop crooks from driving your car away.
Invest in a tracking device so you can help authorities get your vehicle back.

Looks like I will be there by the end of the month. Just ordered front hubs to make sure I am good on the way out.

I've spent a few months at Bliss, well Mcgregor, same thing. It does get over 100 often but if you're from a place like central Texas were we have heat and humidity, Bliss will seem like a welcome relief. At least it did to me. Of course the elevation is a little higher so PT sucks a little more in the beginning.
if you like montane environments the Village of Cloudcroft NM isn't too far from there, me and my family like to ride dirt bikes up there. The locals are pretty friendly to us. I know there are a few jeep trails up there too, I just can't remember much about them. Either way it's alot closer than Colorado for the mountain experience.
My unit is on stand by for the F1 race in Austin. So Hopefully they'll at least let us watch it on TV.

Sweet. I was at Carson for a few years and ran my best 2 mile run there at 10:58. I have since retired so I do not do silly stuff like that anymore lol. I'll look up NM way rumor is that is where the fishing is at.

Holy smoke  ! PT stud. In Colorado no less. I can't even do that at sea level. I do around mid 14 min.
I don't know much about fishing, but I don't doubt it. Like I said I love NM. It's like a little piece of Colorado.

The state tax is what made me stay in TX or I would be commuting from the mountains.
