c'mon guys....

Won't know until less than 24 hours ahead of time if I can make it, but if so, I'm on the SW side of Indy and there are many places we could meet before ever leaving town. PM me with your phone number so I can call you if I can go...

A brief report on Badlands 06/24
Only 3 of us (4 with Carmellas - no rubicon this time) went to this run: Kj-BOL, meduncan & pixeldzn (KJ)
first time for meduncan - I think it was a good first run for him.
Well,..... after so many times going, we started the day at the same point - green trail and went from there - trail was dry for the most part with its shares of mudholes - no biggie ones. hills were somewhat on the dry side - whatever not covered by tree shades was dry - all the others not exposed to direct sunlight were on the wetter side so a bit more challenging.
Again we failed to find the small trail that starts off of the junked blue trailer. Bogdan has taken us there about 4 times and I could not find it for the second time. We turned around and actually by pure luck Pixeldzn followed a trail we have never done before and this one runs to the left side behind the quarry. Very nice, challenging trail - it took the 3 of us at least 30 min to do it, so it is pretty long one.

while on the green trail trying to find the drop in to the creek, we came to a dead end - tree down over the trail.. so that entrance to the creek - the one with the steep drop with the rock on the left & the tree root on the right was out of bounds. We turned around and took the drop in to the creek behind the house on the right side of the quarry - next to the little lake. We proceeded left so we cound get to the bottom of the tree/rock/creek obstacle. after finding the spot, we came off of the creek and tried the hill that always is challenging. Pixeldzn made it on the second try with a bit of trouble, but made it. I think he dug a hole while going up so he made it a bit harder for Meduncan & myself - by the way, pixeldzn had to pull us both up after we failed to make it up the hill. We could have made it, but a bit of recovery on the trail is always fun & also a learning experience. so we decided to do it that way.
After dropping back on the creek we proceeeded the opposite way we came and found the same spot where we dropped in and there was a couple of big rocks to go over. We decided instead of crawling fully over them, to go half jeep only. Mistake #1 of the day. Pixeldzn tried it first and he slid off of his rock rails into a fallen tree. Back bumper took the hardest hit and he could not go forwards or backwards.. This was our first "real recovery" of the day. I hooked him up from behind and Meduncan from the side - after tugging & tugging we succesfully recoverd the KJ with minimal damage to the back bumper - it just popped out in place. We continued out to the end of the creek - under the bridge - came off of it and decided to take lunch break. After lunch we did a bit more of the green trail on the other side of the creek / bridge. lots of mud there with the ocassional "I'm stuck" and a bit of tow strapping.

Green trail finished..... I suggested doing the Orange trail - 3 of us only, kind of a risky decision but we decided to do it anyway. I just picked the lead and went from there - Drop in to orange trail is better now after they moved those two big boulders on the left. This time we succesfully finished the Orange Trail. No Damage at all - lots of trail walking first it was full of mudholes, mud, branches over the trail, etc, etc. Basically good for the atv guys but really tight for us. We managed to get stuck - all 3 of us at one time or another but were succesfull on recovering, so that felt good. Orange trail was tough for the most part
We ran into some guys from the FIREWALKERS group. This was the first time we "think" we finished the orange trail - by that I meant what we think - there is so many side trails that we do not know if we actually did it right. I followed every single trail marking and one of the reasons I think we succesfully ran the entire trail is because we came off of it on the back side of the lower parking lot - something that we did not do before.

In the end - it was a good day - lots of mud, water, pinstripes, etc. we covered a lot more due to being a small group. No damage - always good.
Basically a one good LOST day.
thanks to Pixeldzn & Meduncan for letting me lead the orange trail - it was a good experience.

See you on the trails again soon
Pics to come tonight.

Pics, as requested ...

Here was the coolest part of the newly found trail. This one was sorta overgrown, so I think most people have trouble finding it. I'm not sure if I remember where the beginning of it was, but I definitely know where the exit is. Hopefully we can find it again, it is definitely my new favorite:

And here is our new mascot, found on the orange trail.

The Cliffs = Body Damage for a Liberty. No thanks. I would take the Rubicon there instead, and only after it gets some more armor.
