Sounds like you have the essentials in there. If you want the "be all" list of what to bring, check the "RECOMMENDED TOOLS FOR THE TRAIL" post. The only thing I added was a few wooden planks for extra footing for a jack. It will be very muddy.

Good point... I did not go on the run. You guys must have been freezing. Does having the towing package help with the over heating? I have never had the trouble with over heating like some of you have had in the mub (knock on wood).

pixeldzn's kj has the towing package - no problems with his at all - I think it has to do with how much & where you get the mud onto....
quick fix.... let it cool down a bit, wash the radiator fan and surroundings and u r ready to go at it again.
there is a power wash at Badlands but if you get overheating in the trail and there is no quick exit, it will take a bit of time to et it cleaned - that is why i suggested a powerful watergun toy... :)

Extra shoes/socks/rags for cleaning mud.
plenty of windshield wiper fluid.

Well i got good news and i've got bad news. First the bad news, I won't be able to make it to this run afterall. The good news, I am meeting with the general manager of the Walmart in Dekalb Sat at 10 o'clock in the morning to have a sit down and discuss the bid i put in for the stores snow plowing this winter. He called me, that has gotta be a good thing, I hope. So I apologize for backing out at the last minute but I can't pass this one up guys.

Sorry guys but I won't be able to make it this time. Just got word from my boss that the deadline on one of our projects was bumped up to Monday morning so I have to work this weekend. Hope you all have fun!

CHIGAGO STEGER ROAD CARAVAN TIP:

KJ-B OL drove thru the 294/394 interchange tonight on his way to Indianapolis, and he gave me the following note:

After the Lincoln Oasis - stay to the right where the highway splits to two sections. If you stay to the left, you won't be able to get to the exit.

Again, when the highway becomes divided by a barrier after the Lincoln Oasis on 294, stay to the right and pay close attention for the 394 exit. Soon after you will come to the intersection of 394 and Steger Road and find the Shell/McDonalds where we are meeting.

Just got home and everyone had a good time. It was a day without any major problems. I should have photos up by tomorrow. Sorry for all those who were unable to make it. As you said, it was a great fall day.

Just got back to hotel.....
This was a very nice outing - lots of new faces - Glad Spowers finally made it - nice to see FastTRX have fun on the first outing - very impressed with the way he handled the trails. Also, nice to see 05JeepKJ - even if he got in a bit of trouble but got out safe. Very impressed with bugnout's CRD - looks sharp and playing a bit on the quarry probably made him feel good... Glad also Jeepman60441 made it.... Man i cannot remember names I'm really bad at it but with time we will know each other right?.... Glad to see the rest as well, too bad Ohio guys did not make it except jasonk - Thanks all 3 of you for running the grill Jason.

I was a little dissapointed because I did not find the entrance to the canyon - that section is sharp - next time we will. I think with more outings we all will know our way around it. For all the new guys; we just ran probably 25% of all the trails we can do. With a big group it is hard to run faster and cover more ground but the pace we had today for 12 rigs was good. Good thing nobody got in any big trouble - I know 05JeepKJ was a bit shaken up - believe me - the way you were, anybody would have reacted the same way and I'm glad that did not discouraged you from continuing.

I got a call from Andy a while ago and he was able to have the bronco fixed temporarily so he can get back to Chicago. Be safe on the way back.

I will post pictures later in the week - unfortunately I did not bring the digital but will have the disposable developed on a cd Monday so I can post some.
Last but not least, thanks to everybody for making our first Halloween outing a success.

Henry

NOTE - I'll probably write up a report later in the week

It was Awesome. All of you guys were great, special thanks to Henry for getting me navigated thru/ a few of those trickier areas for the stockers...I was very surprised I could get thru/ a few of those places myself, the KJ is a VERY capable little wheeler!!!! It was nice to meet all you guys and put faces to the screen names...I have to admit that this was my first time wheeling and well..I didn't know what to expect (Dad either!!) but you guys made it great. I had the most fun I could've had on this beautiful fall day, the trails and mud were perfect. Just want to thank everyone again for all their help/assistence/advice. I appreciate it.

Oh and Angus, glad you made it out ok man..that was a scary situation but you made the best of it..your sister too!! Glad that everyone was unhurt and the KJ had minor injuries. Can't wait till the next one!!!! I'll be there for sure!!!

X2. Today was a good day. A little bit of recovery and a little white knuckle makes for a great run.

Hope everyone had as good a time as I did.

Great day today. It's always a ball to get out on the trails with the L.O.S.T members. Nice to see some new people out there today. Could not ask for a better day, weather was great, food was great, company was great and no damage to the Jeep (one of my skid plates did fall off, but no big deal there)

Sorry I had to leave so fast today and did not get to say bye to everyone. My friend that I had with me had to be to work by midnight. So she was bugging to leave.

Henry great job on leading us today. We did cover a lot of ground.

Don thanks for leading me back to the parking lot

I'll post pictures
