Ah you'll be fine stock. Come out and wheel with us...you'll have more fun showing up than sitting at home!! Don't let tires be the deciding factor...

Stumpjumper09, I know from personal experence stock tires (worn) will do fine!! You will need to lower tire press. like every one else to around 8psi, to get around in the sand.

Last time I was there, there were a lot of stock trucks and jeeps driveing on stock tires going up some big dunes !!!

I could have been told wrong or it may have changed but I was told you can get them at the entrance of the park. I'm sure its on the web somewhere for some quick clarification...

Looks like you need a state park permit which is $29 annual for non resident available at the park entrance. Also an ORV sticker that is $16.25 available at large sporting goods stores, ATV sales, and online. If you don't want to take your jeep on the dunes you do not need the ORV sticker.
(Not very likely that anyone is gonna do that)

Found this site, lays out all the rules and requirements for park/dunes entry. Thought it might be helpful for those planning on coming.

geez, that seems like a lot of different permits/passes. anyone know where I can get a dune flag around here? i have one, but it mounts on the back and is triangular (because its a bicycle flag  )

You can pick up a flag pretty much anywhere in Silver Lake. Flags need to mounted in front. If you don't have a front mount, there are a couple of shops that can install one. I had mine hooked up to the passenger side tow hook.

well, i'd like to come up with my own nifty mount before hand, but need to know how the flag will attach if i'm to get one at silver lake. maybe i'll just pop in a local 4x4 shop here and see whats what

Good and bad news for me about the trip. I was worried about tires. Well I had a blow while moving to Michigan. The good news is that my wife to be's uncle works for a very large tire company and thinks that he has some BFG AT KO's used that I can get for little to no cost!!!!! How awesome is that????????????
