How many people are intrested? Looks like a good time and a way to find some decent trails. Be nice to have a couple KJs come along.

Per club rules; drivers must be 18 or older, passengers can be any age, but everyone must have a seatbelt.

We are meeting at 9:00. Leaving for the trails at 9:30, if you not there and ready to go at 9:30 you may be left behind.

Here's how to get there from Columbus:

US-23 South
Merge onto OH-56 E toward CIRCLEVILLE.
Turn RIGHT onto OH-180.
Stay straight to go onto OH-327/CONCORD ST.
Continue to follow OH-327.
Turn right onto Clark Hollow Road (couple miles after the sign for Tar Hollow State Park, if you get to a carry out you have gone too far)
We are meeting at the Ranger Station on this road, There are three gray cinder block buildings with green roofs and white garage doors. They are on the left about 3/4 of a mile off of 327

It will take 1 1/2 to 2 hours to get there from Columbus.

I used to live in that area about 6 years ago, lots of good places to go down there. Camping at Tar Hollow if you want also. Not sure how much real tough trails, I think it will be more back roads and some just avarage trails. Would be great to get a bunch of us together. I may try and get ahold of some of the people I used to 4 wheel with when I lived there and try and make it also.

Tom...I am totally stock with no skids...Having been there before, do you think it would be ok to take the kj to this run? I am still finsihing the '79 trail beater, and I am anxious to get some trail time in.

Should not be a problem they will have different runs for different levels of skill and trails. I really want to help this group out as they are really trying to get more areas open to wheel in and have helped map a lot of the backroads in southern Ohio.
I do not have any skids yet only lifted and running ATs so will see. I had an early 80 Full size Bronco with 12.00 X 15 Ground Hawgs on with no lift at first and took it on most all of the areas down in that neck of the woods. We did have this one place where the water would be up over the headlights so that was the reason for my lift back then, and to think that was on a legal township road! Wish I knew which roads they are going to be using.
See how many of us we can get to go, with the ones from Dayton , Cincy, Columbus areas will not be far at all.
while I am on the saopbox here we need to become members of ohiotrails.org also. They are trying to buy land in that area just for four wheeling/atvs / mountain biking. They are also working on trying to open the Ravenna Arsenal in Northwest Ohio for the same thing(it covers 20,000 acreas! you can go to ohiotrail.com or contact kaeppner@ohiohills.com. Sorry for grtting off the subject a bit but ....

Yes, I am going in the stock Liberty. Wrangler SR-A's and all. After reading this post and looking at the web site, I think I am going to try it. I have taken it off road for some minor stuff a couple of times.

The Cherokee is in a holding pattern. I finished replacing the floor, rebuilt the carb, and it runs well. But I I have fuel tank issues that I need to work out. One problem is that if has dual tanks and all of the hardware connecting the front tank to the rear tank is missing. I also have a welded up yoke on the rear x-fer side of the driveshaft, apparently a trail fix for a bad u-joint. The stick rigs use some unusual " ball/trunion" joint (I have heard it called a "detroit" joint, too.) on the rear x-fer output. I picked up a normal output yoke for a D20. I am going to scrounge a driveshaft around here, have it cut to fit, and go with a normal u-joint there before I bash it too much.

Are your planing on coming? Bringing the KJ or ( I think I just realized you are on IFSJA.org, too) your FSJ if you come?

A lot of the trails I have seen are pretty tight with brush and such. Anyone know what we are looking at with this trip? I also am completely stock with no skids. And I dont think my wife is ready for any custom trail pinstriping.

Never been down there. But according to their site they will be running a couple trails. For newbies, nothing much more than a gravel road. Then an intermediate and an advanced trail. I have no idea how tight it will be, but I assume the newbie trails will be wide.

However, I'll tell you what I've told another person on this board. It seemed to scare them away, hope it doesn't do the same to you. If you are absolutely not willing to take any additional risk, no matter how small, then 4-wheeling is not for you! There is an element of risk in everything. I believe you run just as great of a risk when parked at the mall.

I think you will be just fine and really enjoy yourself. I've been four-wheeling countless time in my KJ and hardly have a scratch from four-wheeling. All the scratch and nicks are from parking lots. It's all about taking it slow and listening to your spotter in a difficult situation.

A few trail scars dont bother ME to much. But the jeep was bought for my wife and seeing how it is only 2months old she would not like it too much. Heck we have 4 vehicles and the CRD is the only one that hasnt been wrecked. But that wouldnt be what decides wether we go or not anyhow. Time and Money...will decide unfortunately. Even if she didnt want to take the jeep we could always hop in the tracker and head out. That little thing is a blast too :) And its already wrecked so that makes it even more fun. I will let you all know whether it is a go or not sometime before its time to leave :)
