I have a 2003 Liberty with a Frankenlift, Rubi rims, and MTR's. I am NOT happy with how it drives on the highway. When I first installed my Frankenlift and had an alignment done with my 225/70R16's, I could not tell a difference from the stock ride. After putting on Rubi rims and MTR tires, the highway ride is not very good. I had another alignment done after the Rubi's & MTR's, but the ride is still not good. My Liby pulls to the left (up the crown of country rooad), I have more bump steer, and the Liby seems to wander. Driving I-65S from Lafayette to Indy, I do not like to drive above 65mph with both hands on the wheel (10 o'clock & 2 o'clock hand position). I do not like my wife to dive the Liby. I installed the lift in 11/05. I installed the Rubi wheels & MTRs in 3/06. Do you guys have any thoughts or suggestions? I am still questioning alignment. Do any of you know a reputable alignment shop in proximity to Lafayette, IN that has successfully aligned a Liberty with a Frankenlift. Rubi's, & MTRs. Thanks, Jason Deboy Lafayette, IN 2003 Liberty |

I have some bumpsteer too. I don't know what it would have been like with other tires as I installed my moabs and mt/rs the same day as the lift. I don't feel problems above 65mph, however. Drove 8- mph most of the way to Moab and it felt fine. Part of the problem is that with the stock a-arms, alignment to factory specs isn't possible. with Jeepin Al's arms it would be. The tech who did my alignment used his experience to get it to track straight and have the tires wear evenly, or so he claimed, and I have been happy so far. |

Quote: with the stock a-arms, alignment to factory specs isn't possible
The tech who did my alignment got mine to factory specs but, having done a bunch of post-lift alignments, knew each lift required minor adjustments. A call to All J gave him those adjustments for the Frankenlift which, if I remember right, is a minor amount of negative toe-in. Don't quote me on that...call All J instead. I am looking seriously at the JeepinAl A-Arms as a next mod though...no problems yet but I know the lift is putting added strain on the IFS. |
