I'm organizing a trail ride down in the Daniel Boone National Forest, near Livingston KY. Its about 60 miles south of Lexington, right off I-75.
http://maps.google.com/maps?f=q&hl=en&q ... -84.214325

Since it is in the Daniel Boone NF, wheeling is free and we will actually get to cover some ground, which some nice scenery. Tentatively we are looking to hit the trails around 0930 EST, so make arrangements accordingly. I will post the exact detail of where we will meet as the date draws closer.

Please reply and add your name if you will be attending.

Man that looks awesome. 10 hour drive and no vacation days left means no go for me though :(

It is a go for me as well. I think I will try to drive down on Friday after work so I will be fresh for the day. I can make the 5+ hour drive home Sat night. If others have the same plan, I would be interested in splitting a hotel room. If you plan on camping, I can bring my popup which can sleep about 3-4.

Hmmm Google maps is saying 5+. I do live on the south side so that will shave some time off it as well. I still think I will try to drive down on Friday. I would appreciate your suggestion on hotels. I dont care so much if it is nice, I just need a cheap/safe place to sleep. A Starbucks or dinner place close by would be a definate bonus!

Just an FYI about google maps - their time estimator sucks for some unknown reason. They are WAY off. Try the same on yahoo maps and see what it says...

Richmond is a very small town, tons of places to eat.

These are all right off 75 on exit 87.

Comfort Suites: 859-624-0770

Best Western Inn: 859-623-9220

Econo Lodge:859-623-8813

Edit: I always use mapquest.com and it seems to be fairly good. :)

Mapquest is saying 3 hours, 53 minutes from Indy to Livingston, KY. Looking at the map, Livingston is about 45 mins south of Richmond. Is anyone else thinking of going down on Friday?

Yeah google maps is usually way off on the time estimator. Seem to always give more time than most people take.

Google say almost 4.5 hours for me, but it's only 200 miles so I'm willing to bet I could get down there in almost 3 hours since it is all interstate.

10-4

Current plan is to come down on Friday but I have not made any reservations yet. I was waiting to see if others had the same idea. I guess I will need to make a decision at the end of this week.

If it weren't so soon I could maybe talk the parents into it. But that terrain looks like it requires some taller tires, a lift, and some boulder bars if anything. Pretty sure the stockers could navigate it, but it'd be tricky!

I'm considering it but will make a last minute decision - 7.5 hours is a long drive by my lonesome.
