Attitude Performance in Arlington Heights McHenry Four Wheel Drive Or ... do you have a local mechanic you trust? It's a preety easy job, nothing that would require special skills a mechanic wouldn't have. If they have a strut compressor, some sockets, air tools and a drill, they should be able to do it no problem. A hydraulic lift will make it a breeze. Especially with a Rusty's, since it is a little lower than a Frankenlift, it goes in preety easy. If I wasn't so busy at the moment, I'd offer to do it for you. |

Great! Thanks for the info. I'll be waiting to get the sliders before I do the install on the lift. May as well get everything done at once. Is there anything else I'd need for the lift? I'm a bit confused on whether or not new A-arms are needed? |

you'll be fine with stock arms. The kit comes with everything, although the shocks leave something to be desired. Might wanna consider calling Heather at All J about a set of rear OME or Rancho shocks. |

Yeah, I had heard about Rusty's shocks not being so good. I was in on a group buy over at another board and got an upgrade to the OME shocks. |

Let me know when you are ready to do it. We can have a lift party at my house in Downers Grove. The springs are a PITA to compress without the right tools, namely a wall mounted spring compresser or like toy. I would suggest getting a couple top plates from a dealer and have the strut assemblies put together by a shop ahead of time. Makes the job a whole lot easier and would definately cost less then having a shop install the lift. Let me know, DonC |

Cool, thanks for the offer FreeJeep! I'm hoping to get the Super Skinks in the next few weeks. I'll let you know when they're here and we can figure out a day to do it. I'll probably learn a lot more this way than having a shop do the work. Oh...would the strut plates from Rusty's be sufficient?

I will be gone for Moab as well, but otherwise I'll be at Don's for the party. I was thinking you wanted to get this done a little sooner! |

I am equally jealous!!! I'll probably never make it to Moab - at least not this time of year - it's busy season at work I'll be happy to wait until May for a lift party... |

I like this idea of getting the front assembly's done at a shop is that all you need is the plates, struts, springs? Will I need any extra hardware besides these components. Let me know guys thanks. S. |

OK, so now I'm confused. There's a topic in the 4X4 section: http://www.lostjeeps.com/forum/phpBB3/viewtopic.php?t=18935 about strut compressors, etc. I'm getting a couple of different answers to my question about what I'd need to bring to a shop to have them put together the strut assembly for my Rusty's coil lift. I'm hoping that one of my fellow L.O.S.T. MidWesterners will set me straight. Thanks! |

I don't see what else you would need, but I have only done one Rusty lift and we just sent the guy to a local shop with the old and new parts while his Jeep was sitting on stands in my garage. Just to be safe, I'd give Rusty's a call and ask him. DonC |

The compressors would be used if you DID NOT take the parts to a shop an d have them assembled. The coils on a KJ are so close together that using spring compressors is very difficult. If you acquire an extra set of top plates, you can have them assembled ahead of time and all we have to do is swap parts. Maybe you could call All J and see what a set of Daystar top plates runs, or check with your dealer about a mopar set. The plus here is that your stock suspension can be easily swapped back in if and when you sell your jeep. |

Thanks for the input, guys. Things are making a bit more sense now. I have 2 top plates for the rear assembly already. So, I would just need 2 more plates for the front assemblies, right? (Sorry for the newbie q's, I just want to make sure I get it right before the install.) |
