Anyone want to start planning a run in Ky for the end of Sept. or early Oct.? It seems that we have a lot of new owners from Ohio and Kentucky ( and other states as well  ) on the board now so could have a really good showing. I know Moose said he would be busy with his son this fall but maybe we could "talk him into going" as well. So I will start it and lets see if there is any interest in a 2007 Fall Run to the Hills  This would be for anyone with a lifted rig to someone wanting to get there feet wet/muddy whatever for the first time.
Any thoughts/suggestions/comments are welcome and the above is not an official name at all

yay! I was thinking that someone needed to post about a fall KY run. I was going to maybe do it in a couple days, but you beat me to it! Obviously, I'm interested. I'm not sure about any conflicts or plans I have this fall yet, but I'm glad we're going to get something going.

I agree, there are certainly a lot of new members in the area and it would be great to get these brand new people out there! Should be a really good time.

Are you thinking DBNF or somewhere else?

If its Livingston/DBNF, I'd be up for that. If its half as good as the pictures from the last run suggest...

I'm drooling already.

I kind of was thinking of the same place Livingston/DBNF,I know lots of people have been there many times but if some new ones come along we could divide up and do a couple of different places or???
Was just kind of getting it started and then when we come up with place /time we start the real planning. I can make any Friday a Holiday now that I am working from home  but for others come up with a date. I would like to go down on say a Friday, check some trails late Friday, wheel Saturday, stay Saturday night for big cook out ??? and home Sunday or ????????

What I've done that last couple times (only times for me) was take a half day Friday since i have a 6.5hr drive, stay the night (camped last time), wheel saturday, then either stay the night and home sunday or straight home sat. night. But a big cookout saturday night sounds like an awful lot of fun to me!!

I'd be happy to go, as long as I can get away for the weekend. I think we'll camp in the Berea-Renfro Valley area this time, so we are closer to Ohio. Also, once you get a date, make sure to post in Carolina, Southern, and Mid-Atlantic - they are closer than some of us in the MidWest.

I am so up for this... There are a ton of trails in the Livingston area that we haven't seen. It'd be great to split into groups and explore some more trails in which the KJs can impress the natives.

:)

So does anyone have an idea of when? Good dates/bad dates I know I will be busy until the last two weeks of September or would first or second week of October be better??
I may just have to keep the set of MTRs I just bought, until after this run

The only thing about all the side trails, they are usually to rough for a KJ. Sure they could do it, but body damage would be likely. Meh-kick and I tried one that went down to a cabin and a lake but it got rough quick.

I was really wanting to go but with all the little problems Ive been having lately idk if I would. I would be all up for a cook out though! :D

you could ride shotgun with someone and handle a camera! that way you could be part of the festivities without taking your jeep!

I wonder how rough it got past the school bus... Now that I have MTRs and Powertrax, I'd be more willing to try that trail in the woods to bypass that huge drop off.

Other than the fact that that's private land back there? I bought 6 TOPO maps of the area last time I was down there. Just sticking to forest roads, we could wheel for a week without covering the same trail twice.

 so true. theres something about that area that just makes people want to accumulate unneccessary, non-functional machinery in their front lawns...
Back when I was in Boy Scouts, we went camping down in W. Va. and we drove through some little town and one of the houses right on the main road had a giant TANK parked in it!!

I have no idea how it could have gotten there. The trail leading to it was as rough as anything we have seen with the KJs. But its and old old bus thats just plopped down right there next to the trail...

Well I dont want to say where I grew up or where even my Father grew up but I have helped move a bus or three or four. One of them took lots of cable and a big old dozer to drag it in, but the view out of the windshield was great when it was finally there  Actually has a cement block foundation under it, side porch etc. wood stove for heat.
