Anyone heard of this before?

http://www.offroadohio.com/forums/forumdisplay.php?f=49

Its pretty close to me apparently, but the info on that forum is pretty cryptic. Probably trying to keep a lot of info off the public net to keep 4x4 traffic down.

I had heard of some places over in that area but no one ever would come up with where it was exactly. My half Brother who lives over there was telling me, plus a couple of guys who work for him, but he wasnt sure where. Of course 4 wheeling to him is driving his mini van into the back yard to wash it so....
A great place would be the Ravenna Ordinance area, several have tried to do some deals to let trails be built on some of it but nothing ever happens, ever been out around it? Huge area and only a small part is ever used anymore

Went back and read about this place it must be the one they were talking about cause they said it was REALLY muddy back in there. I like rocks better than mud anymore anyways!

I've seen the ravenna ordinance area on google maps before, but had no idea what it is. I dont understand. Is it public land? Why is it not owned by anyone?

Yeah, rocks rock!

Ravenna Ordinance is federal government owned and consists of 21,427 acres. They used to built bombs etc there going clear back to the second World War, I think, guess it was built in 1940. National Guard trains there at times on part of it or did up to 2/3 years ago. Has a lot of VERY old buildings, bunkers etc. They say there are about 1371 buildings with 1275 from around the time of World War II. They used to train, work and live right there on the grounds. You can see part of them from the road on the east end. One of the biggest problems I think is the amount of poisons (PCBs) etc that have soaked into the ground from various things that was done there from what I have been told. I know OMTA has tried to get something going with it but nothing so far. It is a huge chunk of land though if you ever drive around it. I have been back into part of it with "some government officials" on business and there would be miles of roads/trails if they would open it up, even part of it.
Hard to find any real info but if you go to www.ohiotrespassers.com/arsenal it does tell some and has a few pictures, dont ask how I know about that site
