Always wanted to go play in the sand up at Silver Lake since I moved up here,
so any one interested in playing in sand instead of MUD!!!

I hate mud by the way but sand and rocks are cool 8)

rs4mtnitro one of our old memebers goes up with a bunch from around Toledo 4 or 5 times a year or more, maybe able to convince him to lead anyone who has not been there, plus we have at least a few members from up in that area.

Its on the West coast of Michigan so maybe attract some from IN,IL,OH, etc ????

I'd be up for it - but it's a bit too far in the future to make it a definite "yes" at this point

Thats it, I know its a ways in advance but wanted to throw it out there just to see what we may get going.
I know there is an entrance fee and you have to have a flag on the front but would be a fun weekend.

You head north along western Michigan and then turn left - continue on 'till your hat floats. j/k

But seriously - I would be very interested in making a trip up there sometime this spring. I've heard it's a good time.

The thing is you really dont need them there. I would be down. My family usually goes within a couple weeks of opening (4 jeeps) plus a few of my buddies. Keep me posted. Would be cool to finally meet some of you guys.

When does it start geting warm enough to really enjoy it up there? I can not be that close to the water without getting my toes wet, but don't want anything on my body turning blue either

I live about 2 miles from Lake Michigan and haven't stepped foot in it for at least 20 years now, but a trip up to Silver Lake sounds fun, I'll pencil it in and hope to make it.

It doesn't really get comfortably warm until maybe late-April or May. I live about 20-25 minutes from Lake Michigan (Holland), and its always about 5 degrees colder than inland.

I was up there twice in 08. Had a great time. There is a voucher system in place now and you have to be in line to get a weekend voucher by friday around noon. It started getting so crowded on the weekends they only let X number of vehicles in at a time. what X number is I don't know. I went on a Tuesday, Wed. Thurs both times this year. Lots of campgrounds and then hotels for those less adventurous. Count me in again. My avatar is from there

That's very possible. Especially if you try to go on a holiday weekend. The best bet is to go on a Thursday so you can get a voucher on Fri. Morning good for all weekend. If you go during the week it's no problem at all.
