Sounds great to me. Unfortunately i'll have to list myself as a maybe. Havin' to replace a few things on the KJ i hadn't counted on & really have to watch my spending to save for the Safari in July. Will see.

Keep us posted though. Looks like a cool place to explore.

I would really like to make the upcoming Jeep Jamboree July 23 - 25th in northern Wisconsin. Anybody else?

It could also be a good time to promote LOST Midwest. Just a side thought on that.

Looks like that would be something fun to do :D
Unfortunately $250/passenger is way out of my price range :(

Yeah I understand completely. I myself would be going alone, as in no passengers. I'd still like to attend a Jamboree for the experience.

I might also be interested in the Nicolet National Forest. I'm not lifted and the camp ground sounds great. After thinking about it, it's probably a lot cheaper than the Jamboree. So put me down for a serious maybe. Maybe will probably turn in to a commitment if enough people decide this location.

That's why I was thinking Nicolet (from what you wrote going up there stock with little or no trouble). I'm not afraid of a challenge. I just don't want to go somewhere and have to park my KJ on the sidelines because of difficulty. Know what I mean.

Anyway, the more I think about it, I would probably have a better time with other KJer's than I would at the Jamboree if no one else was going.

If you are going to go up to the Nicolet area, you really should hit up McCaslin Mountain campground, which has a trail system behind it. You don't have to camp there to wheel there.

I spent 2 days up there with my club in the fall and it was very cool!

There is a map of the trails here: http://www.madxj.com/

The campground's website is here: http://www.mccaslinmountain.com/

Also up there is an area known as "The Pipeline" which is maintained by Wisconsin 4WD and is supposedly pretty cool. I didn't make it there last time I was up there though.

i am most definetely in! 12-14 will work for me as well...most weekends would actually. im always down for forest journeys! the forest service roads throughout Nicolet are a blast and most definetely stocker friendly with some challenging climbs! havent been to the pipeline near crivitz in quite some time but hammering the moto bikes was always a blast there.

here are a few links to pics of the pipeline...

I would really like to go but I've already requested May 22 - 25th off work, so I'm thinking that weekend won't work for me.

Hey awesome,
Something in, closer to, my neck of the woods!

Sounds like fun, I'm going to see if I can convince the rest of my family to make a weekend out of it. My in-laws live in Appleton so maybe I have a little more leverage with my wife! Great opportunity for them to see their grandson :D . As I am still stock, I may have to bypass some obstacles the rest of you can walk right over. Maybe there is some room to convince my wife the KJ needs a new suspension and it might as well have some height to it :D . After all it is an 03 with 105k on it. We'll see, I'll keep you guys posted as it gets closer.

Definitely would need to get some armor and tow hooks (amongst a few other things) before then.

No, just kidding, Ohio is cool.

Actually, my wife is starting her PhD at University of Minnesota this fall, so I'm going to move with her and hopefully find work in my field! :?

Jerbacher:
Welcome (soon) to the upper Midwest! I graduated from the UofM and loved it in the Twin Cities area. (I grew up not far from Mpls-St.Paul)

Nicolet is a good 4- 5 hour drive from the Twin Cities depending on which side of cities you'll be living, there are a couple places closer to TC's. Gilbert (I think there is a link in the Places to wheel in the Midwest post). Also there is a place in western wisconsin that may be noted on a post in here, but is also noted at www.wi4x4.com. Those will be a little closer to where you will be. I think McCaslin that is mentioned in these posts is a little closer as well.

I lived in NE wisconsin for about 4 years and it is a great place to wheel/ camp and I highly recommend the trip up there. A great place to get outside in the winter too.
