Hadn't heard any chatter on this and just wondering if anyone planning or wanting to caravan out to Ouray
Realizing this could be tricky based on people's work schedules i'll just share my travel plans and see if any of you are interested.
Friday, July 10th:
- Depart Chicago, 0800ish
- Lunch in St. Louis (pick up supplies at parents)
- Overnight in Kansas City, MO
Saturday, 11th:
- Depart KC, 0600
- Arrive KOA, 2000-2100hrs
FYI, the drive from Chicago to KC is the same whether you go through DesMoines, IA or thorugh St. Louis, MO (i've relatives in all 3 cities so i know from experience). It may be that some would rather hook up outside KC on Saturday for the long push. i'm flexible either way, just thought some might be interested.
i may actually do some backpacking w/the dogs into the backcountry of Uncompahgre (just shy of Ouray) the first couple of days. In that case i wouldn't check in at the KOA until the 14th. Nevertheless, the travel plans as stated above are fairly accurate as Google maps lists the trek from KC to Ouray campgrounds at 14hrs.
i usually roll about 75-80mph, especially through Kansas and especially since the excitement of Colorado makes my right foot heavy on the skinny.
