Funny, I just posted back on my Hello WI LOST members about this very topic and a WI M/G!

I'll have to check my schedule, I know I'm in the Boundary Waters in Northern MN the entire week preceeding and through Memorial Day weekend (camping/ canoeing/ fishing), so the question will be if I can get away the next weekend too!

Didn't see it mentioned in your post Jayme, but this would be leaving early on Friday ( leaving 7-8ish from Kenosha ? ) to be able to get up there and set up camp with enough daylight left to mean something...

Yeah. We left Kenosha around 8:30 am or so and had plenty of day light. Mind you we stopped at the Ranger Station and had lunch in town before entering the campsite. And if memory serves me right, we wheeled a trail or two before night fall.

FWIW, I can't make this trip.

Jayme, regardless of my recent decisions, I still wanted to go. Since you stated I wouldn't be turned away from any event I thought I owed you the courtesy of a explanation.

My son-in-law and oldest daughter now own my boat and they scheduled the launch with the marina on Friday June 4th. He had never been there (the past two years) when I launched the boat so he asked if I could be there to aid him in the procedures. I was hoping they would have put it in the water the weekend before (Memorial Day weekend) but they have a prior commitment then.

As for me, I guess I have no commitments? :roll:

Anyway, have a good time.

Can we talk about what the iternerary will be like so I know what days I would need to take off? You listed it as Friday through Sunday, is that exploring trails all 3 days, or are we talking about arriving Friday, camping and such, exploring Saturday, heading out Sunday? Discuss! :D

I wish I could make it to this one as it is very close to my neck of the woods. I won't be able to be there because I will be camping in the area (20 mi north of Laona) the week previous and over Memorial weekend and it is difficult to break away from my job and family (2 little ones) on consecutive weekends. Have fun though, I have been on many trails like the ones around there and it is a blast (that is where my avatar pic is from). Maybe if we can get another one going for late summer or even fall I could attend.

Well, I'm not going to be able to go now. I have a wedding I have to go to on the 5th for one of my really good friends from childhood in Ohio. As much as I want to go on this trip with you guys, I cannot miss this wedding. So, I'll have to take my name off the list. Hopefully I'll be able to make it if you go again in September. Sorry!!

Looks like a really good time and I'm glad to see you got to go anyway, even if it was solo. Sorry I had to bail; hopefully I'll be able to make it in the fall if you go again.

I assume no one got a Sept meet going up there? i'd love to go check it out sometime, looks like a nice place to cruise around in the woods and have some fun.

yeah, i'd still like to get up there soon, but i'm afraid all the color is off the trees already. Was planning to hit up Door County as well, but like you said... no time this year. will have to wait til spring.

I wonder if those logging trails get a little muddier in the spring time?? might have to set up an April gathering up there and find out huh??

Jayme, looks like you found some cool new places up there. I had such a good time (with you & Matt) when we went up there last year. I'd like to go there again - maybe next year?

Btw; Did you (also) find a new campsite? I couldn't imagine how you would get the KJ onto the peninsula at Bear Lake? :mrgreen:

Stevens Point, WI. right in the dead center almost!!

I'm looking for some very easy off the road trails i can take my son on with me. he's 10, and wouldn't be much help if we got stuck! ha. but he likes going on trails like that and i think he'd have a blast just driving through the woods and being able to get out and explore a little bit on foot too! but something that we can do just the two of us, without worrying about getting stuck. seems like this might be a good place for that huh? a little fun off road, with no worries really so to speak of.

I assume there would be some biking trails up around there too??? the ladyfriend and i just got some new bikes (picking up tomorrow actually) and maybe all of us could go up there sometime with the kids and bikes. just not sure what's up there i guess.
