My two daughters and I walked away without a scratch, thank God. To my surprise, the airbag didn't deploy; I'll need to have that checked. The other driver seemed fine but left the scene on a stretcher. Hope she's okay! Liberty's in the body shop already and will be for at least two weeks. Everything in front of the passenger side front wheel needs to be rebuilt and/or replaced. Looks like a crater from a punch by a giant fist. This is frustrating and embarrassing! Twenty-three years of accident- and ticket-free driving, then wham, two rear-end collisions in four months. That's all I'm going to say about it for now. New tires (Wrangler DuraTracs) are supposed to arrive tomorrow, but they will have to stay at the tire store until KJ's unibody is repaired. |

Thanks, Matt & Megalos. I am very grateful that my children weren't hurt, and I pray that the other driver is in good health as well. Our Liberty withstood the impact very well, and I was able to drive away from the crash (thanks to the firefighters' snipping off the dangling chunk of front bumper). I'll post some pics after insurance issues are worked out. Body shop called to report additional damage. Adjuster and I expected additional work, but not this much. They're not starting any restoration until insurance co. approves the work. Body shop seems to think my KJ will be totalled out due to its age and mileage. Not sure what I'll do in that case. My wife doesn't like driving the KJ any more; she mainly drives our minivan and won't miss the Jeep. She'll just curse having a car payment again. She says the KJ "feels like an old truck." I call it "broken in." The cruel irony of all this is, my DuraTracs are supposed to arrive at the tire store today. |

Hey, sorry to hear about the accident, they are never fun. As others mentioned, the KJ is kind of a tank, which is a good thing in this case. Hope everything turns out okay. |

Well, I talked to the insurance adjuster and the restoration is a go (for now). I remember when I had a similar crash in the spring in our van, and every few days the body shop called to report additional damage and supplemental claims. In this case, some parts originally marked "repair" had to be changed "replace" = more money on claim. Keeping fingers crossed. I've had the OME lift on since mid-August and haven't been off pavement yet! I look forward to putting those Goodyears to the test. |

From your avatar picture on here, it looks really cool! Hope the best for your KJ. If it's totaled, just buy another one, scrap what parts you can from your old one and start all over again! |
