Wheeling trip in the Spring???? Anyone???

It looks like the 21st they are having a wheeling 101 class so the park is not open. It is open on the sunday 22nd.
I have a CB installed in the jeep.

Would anyone be ok with weekend of May 5-6th? It would be a 3 1/2 hr drive for us and I think we are gonna pack our gear and camp down there or get a hotel. People could come for both days or just do one. I would like to be there for the weekend. Would these days work?

I think I could make it, have you looked into hotels near by? I would just leave the family behind (kids too young to be in jeep during off-road adventures, per wifey) so maybe I could stay the night to get a full day of wheeling in.

I would just be coming with myself and the girlfriend. From looking at maps it looks like hotels wouldnt be far. I was kinda thinkin maybe if we planned this a few months ahead of time, we could get more members to join us there. I mean heck anyone could come you dont gotta be in a Jeep.

There is a nice campground about six miles away from the park. As far as getting more people to join in I will work on that as soon as we get a date. There is a member here that volunteers at the park and I already told him we were coming out sometime this spring. If we get much later in the year I may not be able to make it. I have a Colorado offroad trip in the works for summer and maybe going to Moab in May.

My brother will be bringing his XJ. My son,( If we go before Pitt state is out for the summer) will drive his ranger. We should be able to get a couple of jeeps(or more) to come down from Kansas City also. There was a guy from Arkansas that wanted me to get in touch with him when we set up a trail ride. It's getting easier in this area to get people to get out to the trails A few years ago I could not find anyone from lost to go with. This should be fun looking forward to it.

Any limitations on vehicles and their equipment?

I am trying to find time for front recovery install, and I know in the past I have felt like I was slowing down the group I was with. I am better set up now for wheeling, but I sure don't want to be "that guy".

Not sure if you guys were planning on doing a trail ride convoy style or do your own thing. Also not familiar with the trails there.

Just skids and tow points. We just stick together on the trails in case someone needs a pull. The trails and terrain at this park remind me of Missouri.

I think sticking in a group is the best way. That way we are all there to help if someone needs it.....and of course get good pictures of the event :JEEPIN:

Man we lost a guy at work so whenever we do this I'll prolly only be able to do Sunday now :evil:

I have to work Sat till noon now. However w/e we get it down I'll prolly leave here after work Sat, get there Sat evening & camp/get ready for a day of wheeling :JEEPIN:

So you are going to camp on Saturday night. I might drive over and camp if someone else is there. There is a small lake with a campground/shower about 5 miles from the park. We stayed there last fall. Or you can camp at the park but it may be crowded after the crawl that day.

Man, I am in a slight pickle, I have a curt front hitch (from a TJ) waiting to install for front recovery, but I also paid rocklizard for a front bumper last fall, so not sure if that will make it here soon. I am really thinking about just getting an arb (my current plastic bumper cover is all jacked up) and installing that. I just don't want to waste any time/money doing the same project twice, but I do not have ANY front recovery! Maybe I can just go in reverse every where LOL

I would not count on getting your bumper from Marty. Unless you go get it yourself, that usually works.

I'm not sure if I'm still camping Sat to Sunday or not. I have my mom watching my kids that weekend and wanna be away from them as little as possible. So, I'll talk to the lady friend and see if she wants to wake up early & come down or if we'll be camping. I'll let ya know as we get closer.
