Marty, I think your junk would look a little odd going from 35's to 31's  Joel, either way we'll end up meeting on the trail. I'm absolutely sure that someone is going to get stuck in either the trees or on an obstacle. I just talked to Troy and he'll be bringing his KJ to help me represent.

So what did everyone end up doing today? By the time we got up there the snow was closing in. Since we couldn't raise anyone on the CB we just continued on and spent the day in Cripple Creek.

It started snowing down here (nothing stuck) shortly after I called you. What happened to all those CO4x4 guys? Off topic, but we have never been to Cripple Creek. Is it worth going to?

It was interesting to see all the old mining sites in Victor and there is great scenery along the way. If you're a gambler then Cripple Creek could be fun...we dropped $10 in the slot machines, had a burger and went on our way.

Sounds like Eagle Rock would have been a rough ride from what I read on CO4x4. Guess I need to get some new Tars.

You guys didn't miss much in the way of fun. Before we even made it to the left turn we had 2 bent rims, 1 tire's bead completely blown, and 1 fender dented. This was after about 2.5 hours and because of the 2" of ice covering everything. We turned around (sometimes by just pushing the front end around until it was pointed back downhill) and took the toboggan ride to the bottom. One the way back down we passed 12 other vehicles heading up (some from CO4X4) and most turned around behind us. After discussing things in the field at the base of the trail, some of us headed off to do Mt. Baldy. We didn't even make it to where Eagle Rock meets up with it before we were hitting snow drifts approximately 3' deep. We called it a day after that.

1 lifted and locked TJ on 35's
1 lifted TJ on 35's
1 lifted and locked early 70's K5 Blazer on 37's (blown bead resulting with the tire wrapped around his axle)
1 lifted '04 Chevy 2500 CrewCab on 35's (left rear fender dented behind the tire from sliding into a tree)
I dented my rim pretty well when I nailed a rock fairly hard
and last but not least ...
Troy dented one of his rims but was able to hammer it back into place before he lost too much air.

There was also a stock Toyota Tundra but he parked in the field and rode in the Chevy.

Also, both rims and the tire were the result of the same rock

It was not a really fun day forsure,Pete did really good even though he does not have lockers.I was pretty mad after making it up one part(where 2 tires blew out and I bent my rim) just to have them say we are turning around and going back  .At least I showed them a KJ can keep up,Pete would have had no problems to if he had lockers(but did really well in my opinion).

I'm now to offroading and would like to know where some good trails are. I have no clue where Eagle Rock trail is, would like to tackle it next summer.
THanks,
Andy

Where do you live? We run 2-3 trails per month, and you are more than welcome to join us. We are kinda in the off season right now due to weather and some of us getting our jeeps ready for next season. Post your location in your profile, and build your sig so we know what rig you have and how it is built. You can do all of that in the profile section.
