OK, just as a refresher from the By-Laws

Elections of officers and Board of Directors shall be held on the LOST ROCKIES Board in an open ballot forum. Nominations will be accepted online. A Majority of membership votes will be the rule for all matters. All voting posts will be open for a period of seven (7) days. All officer nominations will be posted in the last full week (Sunday-Saturday) of September. The Elections will be held online in a separate post throughout the first full week (Sunday-Saturday) of October. If a member chooses to decline their nomination, they can do so at anytime prior to the election post opening with a simple post stating “I wish to decline my nomination for the office of…”

Start thinking of who you would like to nominate for what. Current officers can be nominated again for the same or different positions, and can decline still as well. If you want to hold a position, you can nominate yourself.

As A refresher, here are the positions we will be voting for:

President shall be the executive officer and will preside at all meetings.
He/she shall have the duty of carrying out the policies and decisions of the members. He/she shall approve any checks via E-mail or approval in the Admin section of the LOST Rockies forum. Will also serve as one of the Vice Presidents of the three state LOST Rockies.

Vice President will assist the President and act on his/her behalf in case of absence.

Secretary shall record all minutes of the meetings; maintain the records; write any correspondence as directed; notify the membership of meetings and events.

Treasurer shall receive all monies; be responsible for the bank deposits; disburse funds as authorized; sign checks with the President’s approval and have the books open for inspection by authorized auditors or club members.

Events Coordinator, whose duty it will be to organize events and activities.

Conservation Chairman whose duty will be to help make arrangements for conservation projects for the club to carry out locally.

Membership Chairman, whose duty it will be to review new club applicants and present them to the membership. He/she shall be responsible for introducing guests and shall keep a log of all visitors at meetings and on club outings (Hold Harmless Forms).

Current Officers are as follows:
President: USAFCOP/Ted
Vice Pres: SkyJump/Joel
Treasurer: Tokyo Joe/David
Secretary/Membership Chair: RockLizard's wife (no username yet... Slacker!)/Stacie
Events Coordinator: Rock Lizard/Marty
Conservation Chair: KWAV8R/Pete

Remember, you must be a current Paid member to Vote or Nominate someone for a position. Also if anyone wants a copy of the Bylaws, PM me with your e-mail, and I will send it to you.

Ted

OK, last full week of September is 24-30 September.
You all have a week and a half to think about if you want to nominate yourself for a position, or who you would like to nominate.

If you would like a copy of the By-laws so you can review responsibilities, PM me with your Address.

Joel, can moderators make sticky threads? If so, can we make the nomination and election threads temporary stickies when the time comes?

I'm with you on that. I know I'll be nominating myself for the Conservation Officer position again!

The current officers have only been in office since May (I think). It seems that an election at this time is unnecessary unless someone is wanting to give up a position or the bylaws require it.

If the bylaws require it, then I vote/support that the current office holders retain their current offices for another year.

Phil,

I respectfully disagree with you there.

I do agree that the current officers should remain where they are as they are doing a great job, but they were appointed by a select few without any significant input from most of the lost Rockies members. We need to do things as officially as possible to fully legitemize our organization. To do this we need to start out on the right foot and allow all members to have a vote.

Regardless of whether all the current interm officers keep their positions (I hope they do) we should vote on this as a group if for no other reason than to start out on the right foot...so to speak.

John

If you are not a paid member, then you can get in touch with the current treasurer to arrange dues payment to be considered eligible and to get your voting priviledges. Remember this is YOUR club, lets all take an active role in its growth!!

Also, for ease of nominations, I will transfer the nominations in this thread to the appropriate nom thread.

I know this a moot point but if the current officers want to keep there current positions for another year I'm for it.I think this will be the best way until our section grows and gets more regular attending members.I know life happens,I can't even make every run but it seems like only a few are always showing up,just my thoughts and I'll shut up now.

So no one wants to nominate any one new?

Do any current officers have objections to their current office?

Well, does the voting membership choose to elect the current protemp officers into office for the Year?

I'll vote to keep all the current leaders in their positions as well...assuming they still want them.
