I took my KJ out wheeling today for the first time and ran into a interesting problem. I was on a dirt road and thought it would be a good time to try out four wheel drive. I got it into 4 high and when I tried to get 4 low the cable broke leaving me stuck in neutral. I had to crawl under there and put it into drive by hand. With only 700 miles on it and the first time using 4 wheel drive I am very mad. Has anyone had problems with this before?

Were you stopped with the transmission in neutral? Just to be totally clear...there is no "shift on the fly" when it comes to 4-low. It is only to be used at very low speeds and you have to be nearly stopped to engage it. I've never heard of this happening and I'd guess its just a fluke thing if you were trying to engage 4-low properly. The dealer should warranty this though...I guess that's the good news!
