UOOC is going to do a couple of runs up American Fork Canyon on the 17th and 24th of September. Sounds like a good time, so I plan to go. Let's see how many KJs we can get to show up for these runs. I know there are at least a half dozen of us that are equipped well enough to do these trails without having to get strapped. (One more now that Krazz1e's locked! More info here: http://www.utahoffroad.com/forum/forum_ ... D=717&PN=1 Post a reply here if you think you'll be making it. |

I'll be there. I am also going to try to bring my Boss along. He has a lifted/lock wrangler. |

Hey Fellas, Im back up and running. I got West Valley Dodge to get me into an 06' CRD Limited. The took back the 05' CRD Sport I was having problems with. Just got back from All J's this morning, long drive. They installed some armour and a 2.5 Daystar. Without a limited slip or full locker should I be able to keep up with guys? I would Like to make the run on the 17th. Let me know im planning on it. |

Troy can probably better answer, but if you got some tow hooks then no worries we'll get you through the tuff traction parts slowly and safely in Mineral Basin. If no tow hooks you can still make the Forest Lake run, I just will have to help spot ya on 1 hard tracation part. I've done it 2 times unlock and 1 time lock. |

Yup, if you have tow hooks, no problem. There's no dishonor in getting strapped. |

Got the hooks but no boulder bars |

No bars? That's ok. You don't need them on Forest Lake. Mineral Basin be nice, but we will just spot you on the smaller rocks in the rock garden. |

The first time I did these trails I had no bars, skids, or locker, and made it w/o a problem. Of course, that was last year before heavy rains totally redesigned the trails. But I still think you should be fine. What tires do you have? |

Now, hang on a sec...we didn't say you wouldn't get scratches. Seriously, with all the rain we've gotten there is a lot of brush up there, so you will have trouble avoiding a little bit of pinstriping, especially on the Forest Lake trail. (It will buff out, though.) I think you might be able to get by with those tires. |

| Post subject: | Great run! |
We had a great time...I hope more of you can join us this weekend (if I can make it myself). The UOOC group is really cool. Not as organized as the LOST runs (and they allowed a guy to drive his Chevy pickup with 4 college kids standing in the bed Some favorite pics: Justin navigating the Rock Garden:
I thought I was FINALLY going to rescue another vehicle...but they were WAY too stuck.
They're hard to see, but can you find 2 LOST Rockies decals in this photo?
C'mon, Justin, get out of the way so I can take a picture!!!
Climbing the hill to Mineral Basin. (There's a steep dropoff to the right...no pressure...)
Having lunch in Mineral Basin.

BTW, Justin, I'm looking forward to seeing your pics! Especially the one where I'm straddling that crevice in the road, and "He's not going to try going up that, is he? HOLY S---!!!" |

Looks like you all had a good time. Unfortinately, I still have no recovery hooks. I did get rid of those crap stock tires though. And I was stuck hanging drywall in the basement all weekend... and probably next weekend also. |

I'll move them to a folder at the same level as the others, but for now you can still get to them the same way, or here: http://youngs.homedns.org:8082/photos/l ... %5Ckrazz1e krazz1e wrote: Picture 10.jpg is the one you are going up the crevice... Yeah, I was a little nervous about that...but I figured if I stayed level, nothing terrible would happen. Thanks, those are great pics! |
