We currently live in Southwest Missouri, the foot hills of the Ozark Mountains. However, we still own property at 7,000 feet in New Mexico and are thinking seriously about moving back to “the land of enchantment.” All our immediate family is here in the Midwest so that is why we found our way back. But we miss the solitude of mountain living and desert life! We plan to abandon our family once again to seek a more adventurous life. We can’t wait to be back in Jeep Country again and meet more people like my wife and I who love the outdoors. My wife will try to land another teaching job in the Gallup, New Mexico area. So we’d love to hear from any of you!

We look forward to having you in the LOST Rockies area. Look for those that are from New Mexico. There are a few out there.

What level is she teaching? My brother started off teaching up at Navajo Pine then later on went to Tohatchi (high school both times). I also have a cousin who has taught the last I forget how many years at Ft. Wingate. Good luck on the move!

We spent the last 3.5 years living south of Gallup at 7,000 feet. Our backyard was the Cibola National Forest. For the first year my wife taught at Jefferson Elementary in Gallup and I taught at J.F.K. Middle school in Gallup. We later transferred to the Ramah Elementary School which is still part of the Gallup/McKinley County schools and was much closer to our home. I’m very familiar with Navajo Pine and Tohatchi schools. I know two teachers that are teaching at Tohatchi.

We are currently living near Roaring River State Park not far from Cassville, Missouri. We are about 25 miles North of Rogers, Arkansas. I have an Aunt that lives outside of Branson. My family is in Northeast Kansas and my wife’s family is in Midwestern Illinois. So we figured rural southwest Missouri near the Mark Twain Forest would soak up our New Mexico blues. But it’s not working.
