Nevada needs a home.

WOW, never noticed Nevada didn't have a home yet.I don't care so I voted for it but it's not my choice.I think the L.O.S.T Rockies Pres. and all other officers have that say.

This is a tough one, as the Rockies group already has 3 States, and Those of us in Colorado are the only ones formally organized as of yet, so we do not really have a regional President yet.

I would not mind adding Nevada, but my concern is them making it to Rockies events with how far West they are.
Not to disuade you, but is there enough representation to start a Nevada only, or Ask the AZ guys if they want to add Nevada?

If those options flop, then I guess we could discuss it more.

Like I said, I am not trying to create an outcast situation, but it is hard enough for us to get all of the current Rockies guys together other than MOAB, and even that was only 3 of us last year, adding one more whole State could prove futile.

Since Colorado and Utah are separated by the Rockies, it kinda seems like a Nevada+Utah chapter would make more sense. We could meet in Moab or Bryce Canyon for runs.

I don't know what we'd call the chapter, though.

Honestly, I think 3 states is pushing it. NM and UT have yet to get organized and we have never done a joint activity. I think the Nevada guys will be much happier with their own club. Or, it might make sense to join up with AZ.

Large (area) states have problems. When you look East, the states are smaller and they can join together much easier. Nevada is a long ways away from the main group of Coloradoans. Utah is mostly people in SLC, and New Mexico seems to have people spread out. Arizona divides New Mexico and Nevada.

I would not be opposed, but it doesn't make sense. Utah and New Mexico haven't even formed up very well and to add a state farther away, just wouldn't seem to work.

Utah and Nevada might work well together. Try getting all of those in Nevada that are on here together and see if you can organize as your own entity.

If I can add my opinoin in, from someone that used to live out west, Vegas is how far away from Southern Cal?? Lower NV join them, or AZ. Reno area Join in on NorCal.

Just because you are in a state does not have a chapter does not mean you cannot take part in or join another club.

Some of us in VA are lucky because we get to take part in MA LOST and Carolina Lost cause we are right in the area for both.

Again this is just my opinion. I did not vote.

You know, Utah has been part of LOST Rockies for about a year now, and I don't think there's been any real value in it--aside from the fact that we've been able to share a logo. :)

Don't get me wrong--the Colorado LOST guys are awesome people. I just can't see where Utah has benefited from being part of LOST Rockies, or where LOST Rockies has benefited from Utah being a part of them.

Once we are able to get organized in Utah, I imagine we'll break off from LOST Rockies, just because I don't think it makes sense for the large western states to combine.

But that's just my viewpoint, not the official position of...anybody. 8)

Troy - I totally agree. We could still do a joint run once in a while, but from an organizational standpoint it doesn't make sense. We'll eventually end up with three different sets of officers, three bank accounts, and a bunch of local runs...why not just have three clubs? And I'm not suggesting that you guys should get your own forum and sever ties in the near future, but as UT and NM grow it will make more sense to break off.

I tend to agree with most of the other opinions on here. I don't think it would make sense logistically to expand our borders. I also agree that large western states banding together poses some rather unique issues and that once NM and UT get more organized it might be more productive overall to split up but at this time I don't think it would be advantageous for any involved. (Was that complicated enough to confuse everyone?)

KJ WEST would love to have you. We have had NV members in the past. I know you would be closer to our events than to the rockies. Only about a 3.5 hour drive from LV to Big Bear and even less to Calico, Barstow and other high desert spots we wheel at.

How many people are in the NV area? come on over.

Maybe we can do a trip up there. We can wheel all day, and tear up the strip that night.

It looks as though the west club has voted to add us. Nevada residents now have a club, thanks for all the kind words and acceptance from all. Should be good to be part of a club now.

I completely understand the challenges of combining States, especially in the Western part of the U.S of A. Travel time is very challenging. Just from one end of New Mexico to the other end of the State is hours and hours of travel time. We use to live south of Gallup, NM. We were 35 miles from the Arizona Border, 3 ½ hours from the Colorado Border, and 4 hours from Moab. We could drive to Phoenix in 4 hours, but it would take us 7 hours to drive to Denver. So in essence, we could be part of the Rockies Club, Arizona Club, Utah Club and New Mexico Club if indeed each State had an established Club. As I have mentioned before, we are looking at moving back to New Mexico. We can’t complain, because we will have many Club choices Living in Northwestern, NM. Anyway, something worth noting as L.O.S.T. continues to grow and each State expand their members and involvement.
