At least come out and ride along with somebody else. It'd still be a great time and you'd get to meet some of the Rockies members.

I'll be bringing at least one digital camera and possibly a video camera as well.

I'll be pretty much out of the net for the next 5 days or so as I make my way back to civilization. Have we figured out a meeting place/time yet? Does the standard 9am sounds good? Are we going to do a dinner afterwards? Which trail do we want to do first? I don't think I'll have time to install a CB for this trip, so will FRS be good enough? I have an extra as long as someone doesn't try to drive off with it this time. Just kidding.

I like my CB. Ted will keep me informed (he has both types of radios).

My buddy Kevin and I will be driving down from Fort Collins that morning, so my vote is no earlier than 8am if possible. Of course, we're riding in someone else's vehicle for the trails so my vote isn't weighted all that much...

9:00am works.

You C. Springs folks (TED and PETE) should probably figure out a meeting place.

well, as for the meet place, I am not real familiar with what is around the area of Tarryall.

I think we should meet somewhere around that small town, as those of us in the springs may be better to meet here in town somewhere then go up 24 through woodland park.

You guys further north will mostlikely be better off going down 285 (i think)

So those that know please help me out!!! as Pete hopefully is flying not driving to the freedom bird!

Someone will need to come by my place so I can follow, because I haven't a clue where I am up there yet.

I thought these trails were just outside C. Springs, but I guess I was wrong. It looks like we need to take 285 west for either of these. There's also a way to get there through Woodland Park which is just outside the Springs (that's probably what confused the issue).

Let's meet in Conifer at the Safeway (there's also a Starbucks there) @9:00am. Here's a map of where we're going: http://maps.yahoo.com/maps_result?addr= ... name=&qty=

Just click directions "To Here" and type in your address. Just to give you an idea it looks like its about 1 hour from Castle Rock, 1.5 hours from C. Springs, 1 hour from Aurora, and 1 hour from Boulder.

Edit: China Wall is mostly big rocks and climbs. Slaughter House Gulch is MUD and "whoopdeedoos". Both of them look very fun in their own way. We can get to either from the meeting place.

Put me in the list as going. I'll drive my Jeep over there but I'll probably want a ride with someone else for the runs. I may have my boulder bars on by then but thats it.

I read up on both of those runs...some make it sound/look easy enough but others make it sound/look pretty difficult for a stock lift vehicle...Sounds like for a lot of the tough spots there are drive arounds but not all of them...anyone else know more? I'm not afraid to give the runs a try...but at the same time I don't want to burden the group if my vehicle is not up it yet.

Oh...also I'll have my camera...always have it with me...So if I ride near the front of the line I'll be glad to document the run.

My guess is you might have a shot at Slaughter House Gultch. It is only rated a 5/10 and doesn't seem to include any big rocks. You might need the strap a couple times on the mogul type sections, but probably doable. China Wall seems like there are some BIG rocks. That's where a lift and boulder bars are your friends. You're right though...a lot of the times there are alternate lines that can be taken. Thus some people see the trail as easy while others see it as difficult. I'm glad you're coming out either way though!

That is along the same line of thinking I was having as well...I'll see how adventurous I am when I get there...

Well, Joel has posted the meet place.

and time 9 am at Conifer.

OK Co Springs guys, do we want to meet somewhere and convoy there? Especially for the new guys (Rock Lizard)

We could meet att he Diamond Shamerock off of I 25 and Baptist Rd at say 0715 (leave at 0730).
Just go north 25 up to Monument hill (past North USAF Academy entrance). It is on the left side of the freeway, you will see it.
Pete correct me if I have the street wrong.
Sound good?

Ted, I that is the correct name of the road (Baptist) that the Diamond Shamrock is on. That also sounds like a good meet up time. As far as the CB, I may find the time before the run to get it installed, but no promises. I don't even know which one to get (want one with a WX channel). I may hit you up for some advise before I do it though. Seems that every time I install a CB, even if I calibrate it properly, I end up burning through it in months. :?

Rock, like Ted said, to get to the meeting point is very easy as long as you can find I-25.

Kugellager, consider yourself added to the list. Don't worry about burdening the group, I think my KJ is going to have troubles as well (no boulder bars, no locker, no articulation). I'm sure bewteen the lot of us, we'll figure out a way to get you through without too many problems. Hey, what better way to find out your KJ's capabilities. Don't sell her short, she'll surprise you every time you go out.

I think I can find it. I know how to get to Academy, and I know Academy hits 25 near Chapel Hills, then past the academy toward Monument. Baptist road is right off 25, right? Should be easy enough. My business cell is (316) 990-2479, because my email will be gone after Monday. For those of you helping me unload the truck Nov. 2 after 5PM, send me an email this weekend with your phone numbers: rocklizardfab@yahoo.com

Hey Rock, yes Baptist is a right exit off of 25, you will turn left onto baptist, and then the diamond Shamrock is on the right of Baptist.

Pete, if you want, just get a cheap one from Walmart, and Call me, and we will hook it up. IF you just want to borry my magnet mount antenna, you can use it, or buy an antenna, and we will fab up a mount for you too. Then we will hook the meter up and tune it for ya too. How 'bout that, full service!
