I'm going to go explore the Metberry Gulth area this weekend. A co-worker was just there last weekend and recommeded I check it out. He provided me with some maps, directions and trail conditions. He said the trail is in decent condition with some washouts. Overall a moderate trail and shouldn't be overally difficult for my KJ. I might also spend the night out in the back country too.

Metberry Gultch just opened a little over a week ago. It was originally closed due to the Haymen fire, but after 5 years it has finally opened up again. The trail leads down to the South Platte river and some camp areas. Metberry Gultch is just to the west of Divide/Woodland Park outside of Colorado Springs. If anyone is intrested in checking out the area then let me know.

I'm not too sure on the difficulty, because I never ran the trail myself. My co-worker was a little worried about me taking a stock KJ out there, but didn't think a lifted one would have much problems.

It can't hurt to come along and see what you think. You would be pretty amazed what can be done with even a stock KJ with some careful spotting and good lines. I'm not opposed to stacking rocks if needed. Just make sure you have skid plates and recover points.
