Saturday, August 11, Wheeler Lake. We haven't done anything too extreme yet this year, so it's time to hit the big rocks. This is not a stocker trail by any means. Minimum requirements are skids, sliders, tow points front and rear, lift, and good AT or MT tires, no stock tires because you don't have enough spares. The trail isn't real hard, but the rocks are not forgiving at all to stockers or unprotected jeeps. The trail is about three miles long and has three obstacles, but you can not bypass them, and once you get to the top, you have to come back down the entire trail.

I would like to see a great turnout of the built KJ's to show the doubters it can be done, like last year. I would encourage the unexperienced guys and the stockers owners to ride along and see what is in store for them when they get their jeeps built. Sorry Bill, but a built Patriot with 3" lift, 31's, and all the armor in the world probably won't make it out with the drivetrain still intact on this one.

So, lets get the list going.

1. Marty

As you local King Sooper's grocery checker I'm left out in the cold again. Probably a good thing I have to see a spine specialist on the 6th. Who knows what I may be doing. But I do wish I could be getting dirty with you guys. Hope to meet and see you all soon.

All my pre-deployment stuff should be done by then so I should be able to make it. We'll consider it my going away trip since I leave about 8 days later.

Denise and I are down. I'll be sure to bring the new camera too! And, with Darryl's, we should be able to get some good action shots from multiple angles. So, I guess that makes it...

10. ??

Are we going to have enough extra seats? Maybe those who have vehicles that will make the trail could post a (#) of available passenger seats next to their name... Looking forward to the run! Shaping up to be a good turnout.

Also, looks like a 2.25 hour drive from Aurora to the trailhead; what were the plans for meeting place/time?

I'm always by myself so I'll have 3 open seats, really 2 because of the extra gear I bring on runs but could manage a third.

Yeah, seats could be limited. For example: Tokyojoe might want some private time with his lady friend, so I’m sure he doesn’t want an audience in his back seat.

That depends if she wants to go. We shall see. She is going on a trip that coming Monday so she may want to stay home and pack.

I'll know more in a few more days. I wouldn't have a problem if people wanted to sit in the back, but back seat off-roading is no fun. Shotgun seat is where it's at.

Tokyo, you're in Aurora, right? I'm sure if you have three open seats for the ride to the trail/meeting place, Darryl, Denise and I would be happy to chip in for gas. Let us know what you figure out...

Well, my shotgun seat will be open. Most likely will havethe rug rats with me, so the back will probably be full.

So are we going to have to add a club position during the elections in September? Historian/Photographer? All you guys and your fancy cameras... Go buy some parts for my jeep instead

We'll be rid of the kids that day, so we will have a couple seats open in the XJ. Stacey will probably drive up the trail and I will bring it back down. Sarah is welcome to ride shotgun with Stacey, give her a chance to feel what an SFA can do, and either scare her out of it, or solidify her decision to go through with it. I don't do the back seat or shotgun on obstacles very well, so I will be happy spotting everyone up the obstacles, and then ride along somewhere up the rest of the trail. Check out the Trail Rides page of my sight and look for Wheeler Lake, just to see some of the obstacles. There are three obstacles. Bowling ball hill is fun because it is a hill of nothing but rocks the size of or bigger than bowling balls, and you can be driving forward, and end up five feet back from where you were because of the rocks rolling around under you. Pretty fun stuff.

Hey, today we learned at church about scripting our children in positive ways. I was just thinking, Marty’s Kiddos and your kiddos will be scripted to be off-roaders someday. They hear the lingo at home, see the trails on the weekends, and are being scripted for off-road fun! These little guys and girls are our future club members! That’s really cool they get to come out for the trail runs. These experiences will be something they will always remember. And when they turn Sixteen they will say, “DAD, I’M READY FOR MY OWN JEEP.” Or, “CAN I TAKE YOUR JEEP OUT DAD.”

My kids will probably be trying obstacles as soon as they can reach the peddles and see over the hood. Well, atleast reach the peddles, because I can barely see over the hood.

sixteen!!! Mine both have powerwheels and build obstacles in the yard and snow and run over the dog... anything in their way!! Heck the boy has driven his so hard that he has burned out two motors!!! He is getting a little big now, so I am not replacing another motor, but he steals his sister's whenever he can. Only one not enthused is mama... Jeep is her only competition, and with the latest purchases, I think the Jeep is winning...

Sarah will be riding along with Stacey and hopping out for photo shots. She’s competing against Darryl and Bill for the Historian/Photographer club position which will be held at the election in September. I think I will JEEP hop and hang with Marty to help SPOT and take a few lessons. Save a seat for me TROY.
