Thanks for the invite!
The family has been in town since July. My wife just called and told me how cold it was getting. But she's loving it!
If you can't take the heat (and crowds, etc.) get out of Florida!

I guess you could classify me as a "quite lurker".

I'm up in Fort Collins, I have an 05 Renegade and I'm interested in off roading, haven't done any mods yet but that should change soon.

I'm in for the CO mountain offroading....and going anywhere in the SW where there is desert...then I can blacklight for scorpions at night (link in sig).

Not much 4x4 experience...just a few small trips in the last couple of weeks in my Liberty and some on a field job I had about 9 years ago in a crummy Bronco II

Ahh man that is just sick :D. I hope all those scorpians are in your Jeep and not mine... Although that just isn't my luck.

Off-Roading. Just received my skid plates yesterday, just have to find time and a place to put them on. Didn't see a transmission plate at the web-site I went to. I'll keep looking I know I saw it on this site somewhere.

Hey Ted, I'm really jonesing for some wheeling too but I need to wait for my tax refund before I can get my wheels and tires...still have the stock tires...Almost have my lightbar/CB antenna mount done too...went up to Urab/Jones pass area this past weekend...They have the trail to jones pass snow-cat plowed but I don't think you want to try 4 wheeling on it...or if its allowed for that matter...bout 2-3 ft of hard packed snow...

Red Cone is a fun trail, which continues on to Webster Pass I believe it is. I only did the Red Cone part. Nothing too difficult, but your brakes better be in dang good shape.

Here is a page I have of my last trip in July '04: http://www.rocklizardfabrications.com/trail_rides.htm

Coming down Red Cone is when you pinch your seat. The decent drops in two stages; steep and "Oh Crap". I had a TJ in front of me that was one the "Oh Crap" stage while I was just starting the steep. I couldn't see the TJ in front of me the decent was so fast:

And just to make the "Oh Crap" stage borderline Crap Your Pants stage, there are some real nice diagonal ruts that really put you off camber. Don't let this picture fool you, there is nothing to stop you from rolling either direction for about 900 feet.

I'm up for Red Cone when the snow clears. There were still snow drifts as you can see in the pictures in the middle of July. I've also been checking out some info and pictures/trip reports on Slaughter House, and that looks like a fun little trail.

Count me among the Off-Road folks.
I'm new to IFS 4x4's and live up in the Loveland/Ft. Collins area. I've done quite a few of the trails around here, but that was with previous vehicles.
Please count me in for Red Cone after the thaw. I've had that trail on my list for years, but never found anyone else to go me.
