Post subject:  Jeep Audio System

Hey, I’m looking to put a car audio system in my KJ. Has anyone replaced the factory speakers?

Oh yes, JL audio. :D My very first subwoofers were two 12” JL W6’s with the dual voice coil back in the early 90’s. I had two of them powered by a Punch 100 back when Rockford Fosgate was popular. I built my own sealed speaker box from ¾ inch pressed particle board. I remember building within the specifications of 1.25 cubic feet per sub. Does that sound right? :? Seems kinda small now that I think about it.

I replace all four of my door speakers (6½", I believe) with 5¾" Blaupunkt aftermarkets. It was a fairly easy procedure, but I would not recommend the speakers I have- way too trebley (is that even a word?).

Yes, those specs are correct. I have a Stealthbox installed in my KJ along with TR650-CS in front doors. All speakers are driven by a 500/5.

Excellent! JL did a great job with the Stealthbox. 8) Looks like JL might be the way that I’ll go. I’ve always been happy with the quality of JL. :D

I had no idea that Mopar sold anything like that. Very interesting. My factory Infinity speakers are crap. I’m not sure how the JL stealth box will work with my cargo liner in the back. :?:
