So any updates yet Pete?
Don't listen to Troy, WA isn't that bad, we just tell the Californians that so they do not move up

I used to live in that area. Lived in Tillicum, right across from Ft. Lewis. You get used to after awhile. I had a lot of fun racing and wheeling when I lived there. Great fishing as well. And at least everything stays green. :)

I haven't heard anything from my career manager yet as to if I'm locked in to an assignment at Fort Lewis. It took me quite a while to get all my records straight (fix one thing, then something else is wrong ...) so I should be hearing one way or the other in the next month or so. As soon as I know, I will post here.

I will say this, Ft Riley is building a lot of hangars next to I-70 where the flight line is located. I went by there and they have a lot of construction going on there. Just the right size hangars for copters.

There are a lot of issues with Fort Riley's hangars right now. The airfield is located on reclaimed swamp land that settled after they poured the parking pads and foundations for the new hangars. They have had to tear everything up and start from scratch in the last year. There is also some rumors that something like $4 million has disappeared so there is a huge investigation going on. As far as the unit moving though, we are being told it is going to happen starting 3 months after we get back and our equipment is slotted to be shipped directly there from here. However, the III Corps chief of staff (III Corps 'owns' Carson, Riley, Hood, Sam Houston, and a couple other places) says there isn't a chance of the unit moving before 2011. You'd think that he would know more about our move than we would, right?

Regardless of what my unit is doing, I will be PCSing somewhere (most likely Ft. Lewis, WA) sometime around mid-summer.

Regardless, hopefully we can get in a few runs before you are out of Colorado.

On another note...I noticed the addition of a new vehicle to your sig (Not sure how long ago); I wish I could put some of those aftermarket goodies on my KJ. They would be great for when someone cuts you off.

I received an email from my career manager yesterday saying that I'm going to Fort Lewis, WA sometime in the next year. I don't have orders yet so I don't know exactly when I'm moving. I was hoping to get the Maintenance Test Pilot Course en route but that's not looking like it's going to happen. I'll keep everyone updated as this develops.

Well, Guess you will have to deal with me when I go to visit family then.... Once Dad gets the boat back in the water we will have to go 3 miles out and fish for some big stuff!

Sounds good to me, I'll look forward to it. Of course, you know that if we go out and don't take Jen, I'll be lucky if she lets me back in the house. I just had to go off and marry a woman that loves fishing. 8) Maybe we'll just have to tell her that we're working on someone's Jeep.

That is fine, Tricia doesn't really like it, so there may be room... But it is all dependent upon my dad getting the new hull fixed up (hit a dead head and it wrecked the old hull, so he got a used hull , bigger than the last, and he is transferring the motors and all of the innards from the old boat to the new one.)

I just received an email from my career manager stating I have been approved for Savannah, GA. I'll get orders sometime this week or the next at which time I'll find out what my report date is. I'll keep everyone updated as I get more info.

Tomorrow morning I will be getting my orders printed up. I will have a 'report-no-later-than' date of 1 June. Here is the reality of the time frame breakdown though:

7 April - Start out-processing Fort Carson
21 April - Sign out of Fort Carson
~13 May - Depart Colorado Springs
21 May - Check-in with housing at Hunter AAF to start 10 days Permissive TDY (free house-hunting vacation time)
1 June - Start in-processing Hunter AAF

Sometime in that time frame I also have to sell our house and work out the details with health care for 2 special needs children. Not a whole lot of time to get everything in order. Wish us luck.
