Post subject:  Prayers, Please

Just to update everyone on everything going on. Zach, my 19-mo son, has been in the hospital pretty much since Thanksgiving while the doctors try to figure out what's going on with him. For those that don't know, he's been having multiple heart, respiratory, and digestive issues and most recently went through three surgeries which only resolved some of the issues. As of today (10 Jan), he is being transferred to Denver Children's Hospital for further diagnosis. There is a possibility that he has Riley-Day Syndrome which an easily-treatable but extremely rare syndrome that explains just about all his issues. Jen, my wife, is staying with him as I hold down the fort with Cassidy, our teenager. Work is being extremely understanding and giving me just about all the time I need. To the point, please keep us in your thoughts and prayers as we try to figure out what the heck is going on.

Note: This is not meant as offensive or rude in any manner. It is meant to bring a smile to people going through tough times like these.

I once saw a guy with a tshirt, that said "If I get sick, take me to Dr. House". :)

I think this fits your bill right now :P Best of wishes to you and yours.

I'm actually not allowed to watch House anymore because of my 'off-the-wall' suggestions after watching the last marathon  ... Funny though, they just had an episode on Celiac's Disease which is one of the diagnoses.

Well, Pete, Like I said, if you need anything give me a call. Even if we can't go shooting, and you need a break we can go do something. Tricia said she will spend time with/watch Cassidy.

Good luck, at least now they have an idea vs. still diagnosing him, so that helps.

Good thoughts coming in from Cali.

Like has been said before, Please let us all (the forum) know if you need anything.

I am sure the majority of folks on this forum would pitch in to help one of our own as much as we could.

I hope the doctors find what is wrong quick and get Zach back to good health!

John

Post subject:  Update

Jen and Zach are on their way home from the hospital as I type this. Turns out he doesn't have Riley-Day syndrome but a super-rare autonomic nervous system disorder that doesn't even have a name yet nor a treatment. All we can do is monitor him and if things go poorly, rush him to a hospital. :? At least they will be home though.

HMMM...
Well at least they are coming home...

Too bad you can't just plug him into an OBD II and pull his codes... Human body is the most complicated thing, even docs are guessing sometimes, and even when they seem right a new twist comes up with something new!

Good luck.

Pete, I would take him to a holistic doctor (naturopath). I’ve seen time after time when Western Medicine gives up and a naturopath doctor steps in and figures things out with no problems. In the meantime, keep talking to the man upstairs.
