The girl only has the stock front diff skid, gas tank skid, and tranny skid all from factory. Other than that open diffs front and rear. The CRD just puts a lot more TQ down than your gasser.
It has ESP/traction control.

No its not. ESP is always on.. 4 Lo only bypasses certain aspects of it. It was ESP that kept her from making it up the slope. As the wheels were slipping and she was trying to gain momentum, the computer was engaging the brakes and reducing throttle..

Its all outlined in the Owners Manual.

Airing down helps a lot too.

In what we were in buddy airing down would not have helped her sorry. Plus screaming You need to air down from the top of the Hill doesn't help either unless you do something about it.

You just have to know how to talk to your ESP to get it to cooperate

Taking air out of the tires is pretty easy, filling them back up is what's hard. Back in 07, my CRD was basically like hers. It wasn't easy, but I did make it up. The tread width on what fits on a KJ is basically a bicycle tire compared to what everyone else was running. Add on top of that the CRD weighs more than the other rigs and all you do is dig in. When my tires touch dirt, I air down because I know I need every advantage I can get. I was at 15 PSI at Twin Cone and 20 PSI at Slaughterhouse

I am not sure why there was such resistance to airing down not only at that instance but at the trail head as well.

As far as not helping out, I think anyone who knows me on this forum would vouch for me that I'm a stand up guy and would help anyone in serious need. Besides, why should I have busted my stupid climbing down the slope just to let some air out of the tires and climb all the way back up when you were right next to her? It wasn't a major rescue that was required just let some air out. Sheesh.

Most of the time, ESP is a good friend just not on that slope.

HA Ha whatever. I was waiting on her down there. anyone up there could have. But Just sitting there yelling air down, is kinda stupid to me. Don't say it if your not going to help out. Not mad but it was annoying to hear you keep saying it.

Kinda funny, it didnt look like the hill climb was too hairy.. Granted, I wasnt there in my KJ. We hit a Crazy amount of rocks in JLs ride headin up, which made me praise the lord I didnt take my ride. I posted in the WANTS for some skids, so next time, it's on. And if there is anyone out there that wants to give away a locker setup!!

Man it wasn't even aired down? Besides accelerating suspension wear on the trail,it's bad for the tires to keep at street pressures, bad for your back, puts more stress on your drivetrain(IE transmission heating up faster),and makes it harder to climb over obsticals.

I always airdown, even on easy trails and down to at least 15psi if not 12psi,makes a world a difference.

I've never air'ed down on the trail in my TJ. It does actually well. never had a problem with anything on it.

The trail run was fun though.
