If i am home and not at my 3 week SDN school, i should be able to go. My group CDO-R has made so far 3 or 4 runs in the last 4 weeks.

I got a PM today from a LOST person from GA who says he's in UT until 7/5 and would like to run Elephant hill. I have not received a response from my PM but I'll keep you in the know if you want to come out where the Kool Kids play.

I'd be interested.. I would like to get my lift and skids on first. I'm shooting for the 27th and 28th to do the work but we'll see....

(durangotang) If you end up bored on that weekend your welcome to come over and give me a hand.........or two :D I'll even throw in the beverages

that's the target date for going so you'll have to getir done before that. If you can't get the lift on, bolt on the skids and come out.

Hmmmm.... I'm not sure. I'll try to look into it.

I forgot, do you have skids and recovery points?

Author:  4WheelAholic [ Mon Jun 15, 2009 9:42 pm ]
Post subject:

I have a rear recovery point...engine and t-case skids (not on but shouldn't take long) and I may be able to figure something out for a front recovery point.

I wouldn't do much around the area without a tranny skid at least.

You should come ride elephant hill though... JL and I also know plenty of other trails your KJ could rock.

I have an OEM tranny skid that's been crushed once. I've been keeping it because I figure it might have some value to someone who can weld new supports onto it. I have an OEM t case skid that is still fairly straight.

Did you mention fuel tank skid? Cause that's a pretty major one. I wouldn't want to see 20 or so gallons of fuel dumped out onto the trail.

I've never been up Elephant Hill, but it is the most challenging in Canyonlands NP. I have read about other stock vehicles making it but since I don't know what's in store, I'd like for you to have a front recovery point in case we have to pull you over stuff. I have no doubt that we'd all make it though.

Ben and I also tried to do White Rim on our last trip in Feb but the trail was closed due to winter conditions. That trail is a full-ass day being 150 miles long. That was the first trail that I ever did in my career and I did it with balding stock tires, no lift but I did have full skids and sliders. The skids did make contact every now and again. During LOST safari, we camped on the trail. June is kinda borderline for camping in MOAB, but the temps at night have been in the 60's this past week. It costs $30 for an overnite permit that's good for 3 vehicles.

Ben went on a bunch of other trips but didn't invite me so I am not sure what his experiences were in MOAB lately. The last time I was down there was EJS 09 and it was snowing.

Well JL I would be interested in that tranny skid seeing as my welding skills are a little better. I'll just take it to work and have at it, not like we don't have plenty of scraps around. I remember Ben errrrr.... I mean Spartacus  (I still think he's been playin in the pretty colored water) mentioning you had an extra one. I do not at this time have a fuel tank skid...haven't found one cheap enough yet... I wouln't be able to do anything from 6-18 to 6-23 seeing as I will be in the NW visiting the Fam. After work on 6-24, 25, 26 I'm gonna have a big push to at least get the skids on...oh and wire up the cb, oh and also....nah just kidding I think thats it....... I hope :?
