Hello there all you Colorado....ites? ideans?...... Residents of Colorado!

I'm heading down to Denver (from Calgary AB :pepper: ) on business for 3 weeks in March here coming up. I'm a skier up here, and was hoping to spend at least a day or two up in the mountains of Colorado. :jester:

Trying to find out some info, and I'm having no luck, thought my fellow lost members might be able to help out. Up here in Calgary - we've got a few ski-busses - they take a load up in the morning, and back in the morning.

I was *hoping* to get out to Vail, simply for the ability to say that, "yes, I've skiied Vail." Anybody know if there are any busses etc. that run from Downtown CO (or another easy spot) out to any of the mountains nearby? First time down in Denver, and I *probably* won't have a car in the budget.

Ideas?

Thanks.
BrendonR

You can always greyhound it... I used to take the greyhound from CO Springs to Vail back in college to go snowboarding. Vail gets 1 bus per day IIRC.

Hey guys - thanks for the ideas...

While the ridethepowder guys sure sound nice - private ride and all..... $600 round trip for a day of skiing is a bit steep :dizzy:

I thought about Greyhound actually - looked online, from Denver to Vail there were 3 busses, round trip was $35-$65 depending how far in advance i book it... Might be my best option. OR I could rent a car - how're the roads up in that area? They usually do a pretty decent job of clearing the roads up here from Calgary to Banff.

Digger - I'll be staying downtown Denver, Grand Hyatt, and sure thing, you'll have to introduce me to some local hole-in-the-wall

Not quite a hole-in-the-wall... but Denver Chophouse is muey bueno. If you make it to Vail I would say fish tacos at the sandbar (by safeway) or check out Blu's, Red Lion, etc.

Doesn't Rocky Mountain Express take people for $45/each or something?

I know of a little mexican food place on the west side of town that is killer! Never been to the chop house, but have heard it is good  Ben should come up......

Don't worry about the roads. Or DOT does a great job of cleaning...........

I have some coupons codes you can use for rental cars if you like..
