Well, part of this is to vent about poor military management!!!!

I was told this afternoon by the Housing office that I was being forced out of my house by the end of April!!! 2 months to move again!!! This is rediculous, I have not even been in this house for a year and a half yet!!! This house has been remodeled, and it will sit vacant!!! What a waste!! So I have choices, I can move into an older house w/o a garage in another area of base housing (first come first serve), or say forget the chance of having to move again, and sign a 2 year lease and rent a better house off base!!

The hard part will be finding a house to rent I can afford with my BAH. This sucks, if I had known this was coming I would have looked for a place to buy, but now it is too late, as I only have 2.5 yrs left here, and would lose money to buy and then sell. That, and I do not have time to look for a place to buy and not enough time to do the deal. Damned short notice crap.

The worst part is that MOAB is right around the corner, and I have to reset all of my stuff, and keep on line for school!!!
Oh ya, I have surgery to fix my wrist on the 3rd of April!!!

Also, if any of you have empty boxes lying around, I will take them if we still do that run first weekend of March.

So when I find a place, anyone willing to help me move in!?

My recommendation would to be look for a place off-base and skip all the hassle of the on base anticts. However, like you said I'm not sure how much you BAH will buy you. You can always look to pay some out of pocket expense or share a house with a roommate. I ended having to do a roommate to afford more than a 1 bedroom apartment my first couple years. It wasn't really bad, especially if you get like a 3 bedroom house with just 1 other person. Or you can always look for an apartment, but then you don't have a garage and all that room that comes with a house.

He's married and has a family. I doubt a room mate is an option.

Depending on the day, I'll help.

Yeah, Ted has three roommates so it should be extra cheap then, right?

I'll also help depending on the day (pretty much just on the weekends).

Thanks guys, I will let you know what I find, Marty is helping me look too... I think his wife wants a freind close by w/o the hassle of on base passes!

I will be paying out of pocket no matter what I get at least until July when I sew on Tech.

As for the room mate paying for part, is it child abuse in CO to send a 6 year old to a sweatshop er um I mean factory job?

Ted, when I first saw this thread, I thought we were finally rid of you and that the rest of us might have a chance at being a test platform.

Seriously though, when you need a hand, drop me a line and I'll try to help out. I don't know what your best option is up on that side of town. Down here, it fairly difficult to find a decent place with a garage for less than $1000/month.

Well, we looked at some places off base for around a thou a month, and boy were they crap... all of a sudden base housing looks on par! We also looked at the houses they want us to move into on base, and they look real good!! So we turned in the list of 3 based on the outside looks only, and the housing office says it is first come first serve. I should find out more by the second week of march.

I will let you all know. If it is on base move and you all still want to have a party and help me move, all I need to do is call the gate and you will get a pass... or all carpool with Pete.

Thanks again.

I have tons of boxes to help with your move. They are aren't huge but are good for kitchen items and other related stuff. I'd help you move but my school and exam schedule requires me to park my butt in front my desk 16-20 hours on the weekend.

I'm up north by the AFA. BTW, there is one house for rent (been vacant a while) on gleneagle drive.

Well, I will be moving after the 29th weekend of the 30th. I do not know yet if I will be doing the moving, or government, currently they are waiting on funding for the do it yourself moves... I will be staying on base. Since it is a forced move, I was first to turn in my choices, and I am the highest ranking (due to a line number) I got to pick a house today, showed us a new house, but we did'nt like the location or the way it was joined to the other unit, so we picked an old remodeled house. Here is the kicker, It is a senior NCO house with a finished basement and Garage!! In my opinion far better than the new one, because it is by itself, not a duplex!

If I need help to move myself, I will send out a call as soon as I know.

Change of plans here too

My wife's best friend (maid of honor in our wedding) is coming to town unexpectedly tomorrow and has basically invited herself over for the evening. She is from Delaware and we have not seen her in a couple years. Now I'd rather move boxes, but if I'm not around I'll most definitely be in the dog house as far as my wife is concerned...

Sorry Ted. :?

Sorry
I had already left town so I couldn't help out. I did put a contract on a house though. I wanted to see what you guys thought.

It is in Murphy Creek Subdivision. It is about 5 miles east of Buckley AFB. It is a golf community do any of you golfers out there feel free to come on by. I should be getting there the first week of June.

My weekend was shot thanks to Guard weekend and training for an ORI by doing an ORE this weekend. MOPP2 for the entire Sunday except for 2 1/2 hrs in MOPP 4.

Glad to see you got moved in okay.
