GARDEN OF THE GODS COMMUNITY RESTORATION PROGRAM

2006 SCHEDULE



DATES: April 15, 16, 22, 23, 29, 30, May 6, 7, 13, 14, June 10, 11, 17, 18

September 16, 17, 23, 24, October 21, 22, 28, 29, November 4, 5, 11, 12, 18, 19, December 2, 3, 9, 10

TIME: 8:30 am to 3:00 pm

LOCATION: We are working in the Spring Canyon area. Meeting place will be announced when you register.

ACTIVITY: Strenuous. Be prepared to get dirty!
Erosion down the tracks of old social trails has created sometimes- deep
gullies through the sandy soil and fragile vegetation in the Scotsman area
in the Garden. We are building small check dams to slow the flow of storm
water and trap sediment. This involves excavating small keyways, lining
with erosion control matting, filling with rocks, covering with soil and seeding with native grasses.
This is an ongoing project and difficult to predict exactly what the work
will be on any given day.
BRING: Bring water bottle, sack lunch, work gloves, rain gear ; wear sturdy & weather-appropriate clothes, work boots,
sunscreen. We have work gloves to loan, size large only.
WAIVER: All volunteers must sign a legal release form. Those under 18
must have a parent's signature. A waiver will be sent to you when your register.
Put us on your calender, but check with us and register to make sure dates have not changed.
REGISTER: Please register at least one week in advance (if possible).
