Sunday I went down there with Chris to check things out for the Fall Crawl. We had the whole place pretty much to ourselves. I think we only saw two other people out there in an Explorer. They looked like they where having fun on there own so we just pressed on.

Looks like we are in for a fun ride. Dictum proved to be too much. We tried but we are looking at climbing rocks two / three Foot high. More than anyone of us have clearance for. I would say this trail is more like a black in some places now.

After getting back out of this we headed off to sawmill run. This I think is just about the best trail I have found down there. Mud, gullies, water crossings. What’s not to like? Still only about a high green. You will not get bored here. This trail has plenty for everyone. There are enough by passes and alternate routes on this trail. If you do not like an obstacle you can go around just about everything. One lesson I wished I learned sooner. We cut down a washout, coming out of it there were two routes. I went for the hard way and got stuck on two wheels and couldn't get out forward or back. Chris had to strap me here. Man I need a locker!

After lunch and playing in Sawmill creek, Chris (a.k.a. the fish) said let's make sure we know how to get to Flag Pole. Very easy trail here. I don’t even think I hit a single skid plate. On top of the mountain great views to be had of the Shenandoah Valley and west into West Virginia's Blue Ridge Mountains. Let’s hope for a clear day the views will be breath taking. By now the day was getting long and we decided it was time to head for Harrisonburg. On the way down somewhere we made a wrong turn and were "L.O.S.T". Getting out was a bit of an adventure. But we made our way and found a new trail that gets us to the top much faster.

I hope to get down there some more to scout, we will have to see. My fall schedule is pretty full. For those of you who are coming, we will have a blast rain or shine. If you want to come and have not signed up, click here for the sign up thread:
