Ok ladies and gents,

There was some talk amoung us that we would like to "do" the Moab trip. First, we would have to fly out there (Hooters Air leaving from Allentown to Vegas) and have our Jeeps shipped to some convinent site or airport (Vegas).

Question is, who maybe is interested, figuring on an estimate of $1800 to ship the Liberty both ways and $500 in airfare for two?

Would you like me to get some hard numbers? The shipping of the Libertys should be a lot cheaper if we can fill the truck, say 8(?). I have a friend with a tractor and flat bed trailer, he said he would consider doing it. He could only carry three of us however.

Once in a life time trip, for a cost most likely around $2000-$2500 without food or fixing broken parts. (I can dream can't I!).

Al

For those that haven`t seen it, this is what Al is talking about.

I definately plan on doing this so count me in. My "future" Father-in-law, PeteC, was highly interested in this when I mentioned it to him. He said he may even have a select few from MichiganJeepers that may go down. I`ll have him post in here when I talk to him.

How can you NOT miss this opportunity. Moab. Ride with Clint and the gang. Man, it`ll be a hell of a blast. Did I mention they have sweet raffle prizes? Plan that vacation now!

Wow, you guys are an inspiration. I'm only 4 1/2 hours from Moab, so I'll be there for sure, but I doubt that I'd fork out over 2 grand for a LOST event in NJ...

I'm very glad you're doing it though...Moab 2006 is going to be a blast! (Even better than Moab '05, if that's even possible.)

You trolling our forum Troy?

J/K dude. Stop by here whenever you can. The cost would be split with a bunch of people going but I do agree with you. I wouldn`t pay for a trip to NJ either and you couldn`t pay me... :-)r

Boy, am I getting in trouble...

But seriously, Moab is like the Mecca of wheeling. Who wouldn`t want to go there? You are one of the lucky ones that lives within easy driving distance and many of us envy you. I know I can`t wait for this to happen.

Don't want to drive through that Blairstown, I hear that the Mayor is always hanging out in his garage and going trail riding instead of work.

Sure Al, get us some hard numbers. I was thinking of what it would take to drive there and back, and with gas prices and hotels along the way, it would probably cost me like $2500-$3000 alone. If we could make it cheaper by getting a few guys to chip in that would be great. Now I know I have to get a second job so I can definitely go. :x

Hey Al, I'd be interested in getting in on a discount rate to haul the Jeeps out... What'dya think we can get it done for per person if we can get 8 Jeeps?

My first responce to the truck and trail inquiry come in. It will be $1050/Liberty to ship our Jeeps from Harrisburg Pa. to Vegas. It will take a week to get them out there and another week to get them back. So far that $2100. And that's today's dollars. With the price of fuel going up, it maybe more. One of our western bothers posted that it is a 7 hour drive from Vegas to Moab through some of the prettiest lands in the west.

Question, would be better to go straight to Moab? In my mind ( as corrupted as it is) you can't go west without at least visiting Vegas for a day or two. And where would we fly into around Moab?

More research is needed. I am planning on going, even if I need to take a leave of asbsent from work! :D

My wife didn't talk to me for a day after I mentioned this, even if I need to live in the garage for a while, I am still going!

Hooters Air out of Allentown is $258 round to Vegas right now.

OK, so I got the "Daddy please go with us" routine from Talon's future better half. Dayum kids.

My wife (JoAnn) and I have talked about this a bit and we are going to seriously look into going. We will be borrowing a truck and trailer from her Uncle John (he just doesn't quite know it yet) and hauling the TJ out there. Gas cost, who knows, Dodge with a V-10, but more comfortable than the TJ and less gas cost than the Class A RV we have. Well, ok, a little research to make sure. Might just borrow the trailer and pull with the RV. Either way, I want t trailer in case I break something. YOu know how those TJ owners can get a little crazy on the rocks.

I will also post this up on our beloved MichiganJeepers.com and see if any of them want to go out the same time. There are some seriously hardcore wheelers on that board, though we live in a state that is constantly losing challenging wheeling places.

For us it is about 24 hours straight through hauling. We will allow ourselves 2 days each way, a week for the Moab wheeling and then the remainder of the 2 weeks for whatever.

P.S. Wonder if those KJ's would allow a TJ in the group pics?

I just rec'd an mail from the trucking co. (broker) and they said they can take 8 Jeep Libertys and if we can fill the truck we will get a discount, how much they didn't say. The price is the same if we shipped the Libertys to Salt Lake City. However I didn't check on the air fare.

I will keep everyone posted!

Al

I got a question. Would the driver be insured in the event he got in an accident? I mean to cover the loss of all our Jeeps. Or for any other damage incurred in transit? Also, did you mention that they are all lifted? They might have to make allowances for more clearance between the lower and upper racks of the carrier.
