Post subject:  Wharton State Forest, N.J. 50th aniversary TOUR/CLEANUP

The following is a press release: Wharton State Forest in South Jersey is celebrating its 50th aniversary this year and the 4 Wheel Drive Pines Cleanup contingent will be celebrating their fourth year helping to keep Wharton pristine. What better recognition could the N.J. Park System give the off road community than honor them in the month of October during their year long celebration of Wharton's golden aniversary. This year we will digress from our one day intensive clean-up and have a 2 day celebratory event. On Saturday Oct.22 we will meet at Carranza Memorial @11am and have a parade/guided educational tour through the park (voice overs by public radio and NJ 101 radio announcers) followed by a family campout at the Hawkins Bridge camping area. On Sunday Oct.23 we will meet at the Atsion Ranger Station of Wharton State Forest on Route 206 @ 9:30-10am and spend 5-6 hours in organized groups clearing trash out of the forest. You don't have to participate Saturday to help out on our traditional Sunday clean-up. Last year we had to pile trash beside the two 30 cu.yd. dumpsters that were filled beyond capicity. After the clean-up we will meet at the Pic-a-Lily (on Route 206) for door prizes, food and comeraderie.

Here's a chance to tour the forest and help out a very worthy cause for N.J. and meet other 4 wheeler's in protecting and preserving what little off-roading there is in this state. So what are YOU doing this weekend?

Unfortunately our Fall Crawl @ GWNF is this weekend with 20 people coming. Looks like there wont be many around to go. I know I would have gone if we were notified earlier and could have made plans. :(
